Description:

Join us for the inaugural Amelia Earhart Lecture on Adventure and Exploration, featuring a public talk presented by "The Pope's Astronomer" Brother Guy Consolmagno, SJ, of the Vatican Observatory.

"The art of storytelling is at the heart of a good book—and a public library," said Br. Consolmagno in describing his talk. "Astronomy and religion also depend on this art to communicate their disturbing and wonderful ideas. We'll examine why stories are fundamental to our understanding of both science and religion and how the way we tell our stories influences how we think about big ideas."

The Amelia Earhart Lecture on Adventure and Exploration program series honors the spirit and legacy of the namesake of the North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Library in Los Angeles and is sponsored by the Friends of the North Hollywood Library.
