Morgan is still carrying around Lugh. She still has huge trust issues and to top it all The king wants to set up court in this realm.

With all this going on the book seemed a bit of a filler. There's a main plot that seems to be a vehicle to progress the story, the progress was small compared this side plot.
None of the characters are particularly pleasing, apart from Dom and Brian, most are not particularly likeable and I quickly lost any compassion for them.
I did though enjoy the first two books, so I may give the next book a go and see if it redeems the series.

Review:
I love this series so much! This book was soooo good, it scared me a great deal and got me goosebumps all over. I couldn't stop reading, so I kept doing so through my tears, no kidding. It scares me always because of ghosts (this time it's more of a demon though) and I'm a believer, how could I not be one when I saw a ghost with my own eyes 6 years ago. Reading these books give me such a rush of adrenaline. As always, it was a great mystery and very well written. I can't wait to start the next one.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I finished Turn Coat, jim butcher...10.18, 4*s... for my Series Catchup Book. I love this series. My fav character, Bob the skull, only made a brief appearance in the book so I really missed that we didnt have more of his snarkiness but the story was still great & I love the characters. When I first started this series, I wasnt sure I would enjoy it but it has grown on me since that first book.

This review is going to be short and sweet. In the 4th installment of the Caged Series, we find Ruby still trying to deal with her special type of werewolf...Scarlet. Ruby's werewolf has never fully controlled her until her dance partner, Matty, is turned into one himself. Now Ruby has lost control of Scarlet who is forced to kill Matty (her new mate). Scarlet realizes she has to do it, but wants Sean (Ruby's love) to know the pain too.

The book was good and I plan on reading the next one in the series.

So most of my free time last week was spent on that. But I got most of the basics covered now: layout etc. so I can get back to reading. :)

I'm 50% done with my series catch-up book.
I will read The Dead of Winter by Lee Collins for demons shelf.

This was a really good book. Tayla kills demons...it is her job. After a job gone wrong she is brought into a demon hospital and into the life of demon doctor, Eidolon. The attraction between the two is insurmountable. She finds out that she is half-demon, the very thing she has hated all her life. Tayla is now faced with accepting who she is and who she wants.

I doubt I will read the next book in the series because it centers around other characters.

Shelf: Series Catchup
Rating: ★★★★
Finished: 21.10.2012.

If someone would ask me to describe this book in two words, it would be: Storytelling Inception. :D Yes this is a story in a story in a story and as usual the core of the novel (the third story) is the best.
If you are a Dark Tower series fan and you would like another glimpse into the mysteries of Mid-World, read this book. And you would probably want to re-read the whole series again, just like me. :)

I wrote a very long review of this book, but I didn't want to bore you. ;) For those who are interested, you can read the whole review here.

Finished 23/10/12

Pete is haunted by a bad experience from her youth involving magic and death. She's now a detective inspector who deals in death without the magic. Her grown up world collides with the death and magic from her past and she forced to deal with those nightmare, rescue the missing kids and possibly a messed up mage.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Pete seems to be a kick ass girl with plenty of personality and goodness. She wants to save everyone. Jack is a bad boy with secrets and a tortured past. Elements that sound fab to me......but I just didn't get why Pete wanted to help Jack so bad. He doesn't have a heck of a lot to redeem him, not even charm. I think possibly that the history that the author tried to portray was much more complex and indepth than she got across and thus Pete has this bond with Jack that will not allow her to give up on him. Hey I can only assume that, as this is not what came across in the story.
I'm going to give the next installment a go as I'm hoping that Jack will grow on me and I will see something in him that I like and want to succeed.

Week 8 - Wing

Soul Trade (Black London, #5) by Caitlin Kittredge by Caitlin Kittredge
Rating: ★★★
Finished: 10/24/12

I really liked the first couple of books in this series. The world was different and Pete and Jack were both interesting anti-heroes. While I still enjoy the world, (mostly) and Pete and Jack, I just am not as into this series as I used to be. I often feel like I’m slogging through parts of the book. I feel the desire to skip ahead, but I don’t. I just keep plugging away until I get to an ending that is usually worth it. Soul Trade was decent in the beginning and end and sloooooooow through the middle. If the book hadn’t fit into a ton of challenges for the week I would have put it down to try and read at some later date. Instead I made it through and I don’t know if I will read the next one. I’m not sure if I really care anymore which makes me sad because I had high hopes for this series.

For my favourite series shelf. I loved twilight and the morganville Vampires and somehow I didn't think another vampire/school series could prove to be as good, but many people rate it. Plus I got a second hand copy from a charity shop a while a go and had just put off reading it.

Cora and her husband Ben are bounty hunters on paranormal creatures. In this book we follow them while they are solving a couple of cases in a small western town.
The plot development in first 60% of the book is very slow. I was struggling with reading and more and more contemplating marking this book as DNF, when at about 65% there was a big twist & discovery that finally got me intrigued and interested. I finished the rest of the book in one sitting, literally glued to the pages.

For those who are interested, you can read the whole review here.

After having problems with the previous book I wanted something light, funny and refreshing to relax myself. And this book delivered all that.
I loved Bridgertons and their sense of humor. I was missing craziness and chaos of big family since I finished The Hathaways series by Lisa Kleypas and this turned out to be nice replacement for them.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series. :)

Lisa and Rose are on the run from the vampires. We find out why and get to know this new world of vampires both dead and undead, plus the half breed dhampir guardians through the eyes of teenagers at the Vampire Academy.

Whilst I really enjoyed the new world and the basic story I did find the writing a bit lacking. It all just felt a little light and fluffy.
One of the basic concepts of the book really bugged me and Rose (the fiesty main character's) complete acceptance of it just didn't ring true.
Saying all that I have hopes that it will improve, it's not the first time the first book has been a little disappointing.

Finished: 10/29/12

I’m not sure what it was about this book that bothered me. It was drier than the last couple and a tad boring, but there was something more to it that kinda made me want to put it down. But because it was a buddy read I kept going and because Rachel Caine tends to end with a bang I knew things would probably get interesting towards the end. And I was right. The end of this book sets up a total what the f moment and now I have no idea what’s going on. I will definitely check out the next book so I can see how things get figured out and to see if questions get answered. Plus, I’m only four books from the end of the series. Can I really stop now? They’re pretty easy quick reads even when they are slower than molasses.

This book was just okay. I couldn't help but think of Twilight when reading it.
The writing isn't bad, but I just had a hard time getting into it.

Katy moves to a small town and next door to Dee and Daemon. Dee becomes her best friend and Daemon becomes a pain in her patootie. She starts to notice odd things about her neighbors. Daemon saves her life on more than one occasion and the two seem to have a love/hate relationship. In the end, she has to learn to deal with what they are and her role in their lives.

I have no intentions on going any further in the series.
