Sum 41 MEP (All Tracks Filled)

Post by NightHawk » Tue Oct 14, 2008 10:01 pm

A Sum 41 MEP, consisting of tracks from each of their albums. This idea came to me when I was chatting with Kazemon15 about a possible MEP. Looking around, I didn't see any Sum 41 MEP's made, but there was an old Interest Gauge that hadn't been touched for a while. After contacting the creator of the thread, he let me know that I could take over the project if I wanted. And so, after the Interest Gauge 2.0, here it is.

Image

- Mix -

I know I'm not the best when it comes to this, but I tried my best to make the mix the best I could. I tried to keep the flow of the songs (not just the transitions) going nicely.

MP3

- Rules -

An anime is only allowed to be used once in the MEP. If someone else is already using an anime you want, please find another.
No Hentai.
No excessive violence/gore.
No Live Action.
No subtitles, watermarks, or logos.
The use of Bleach or Naruto isn't wanted, but if you pull enough effort, I'll let you use it.

- Technical Stuff -

Codec: HuffYUV
Aspect Ratio: 640x480 (If you're using a widescreen source, please letterbox! To avoid the confusion in this, I encourage using fullscreen.)
Frame Rate: 29.97 FPS
Quality: DVD rips are preferred, though high quality raws are fine. If you're using DVD footage, be sure to deinterlace.

Please clean up your footage!

Audio: Please include audio so I don't de-sync your track somehow. Ultimately it will be deleted and replaced with the uncompressed wav so it doesn't matter what quality it is.

- Betas -

When beta deadlines are due, I'll have an FTP server setup for us to upload our betas to so we can view our progress.

It doesn't matter how you encode your beta, as long as we can make out what we're looking at, haha.

Though I want you guys to look at the betas when the time comes, so everyone has a chance to see what everyone else is doing, and everyone can give their input on everyone else's betas. This is our MEP, and we all need to work together to help each other make the best tracks possible.

Please be prepared to redo parts of your video if need be. Don't get offended if not everyone likes what you've done. Do your best to take everyone's advice into account and improve your tracks in every way you can. It is very unlikely that the first thing you put out will be the same thing that you're going to send as your final. I don't mind you sharing your segments with others, but please post them in this thread too.

Also, please be constructive with what you have to say about other people's betas - don't flame. I don't want any of us to have any personal problems with each other.

- Editing -

The editing style all depends on the track. If the track is fast-paced, the editing should reflect that, and likewise with a slow song. Use whatever style suits you best, though. Having different styles in this MEP is what I'm shooting for, as having all the tracks look the same isn't that fun at all. This is a collection of our styles all in one MEP and I want it to look that way.

It's encouraged that you communicate with the people editing directly before and after you, so there can be some sort of cohesion. Transition-wise, Kaze and I will discuss and find a way to link the tracks together. I do want cool transitions though, so if you can end with a scene that you could see easily merging into the next person's track in some way, it would be greatly appreciated since I'm not all that imaginative. But we'll see how things turn out when we get to that point. =P

- Claiming A Track -

If you're interested in a track, please post the name of the track you want, along with one or two examples of previous work (similar style to what you will be editing is preferred). Kaze and I will then judge if your style will fit and let you know if you receive the track.

If a track is already taken, you can request to be a backup editor. If an editor has to drop their track, one of the backup editors can take their place.

Also, more than one editor per track is allowed. If you want to collaborate on a certain track with another editor, it's up to you two to take care of that.

- Other -

I just want to say that I'm new to this. This is my first time coordinating an MEP so I'm completely open to suggestions. If there's anything I should know or if there's anything I'm missing, please let me know!

I look forward to working with every editor in this MEP and I hope this turns out to be something we all enjoy doing.

I based the outline and the information from a couple of other MEP's. Thanks Chiikaboom and CrackTheSky...I liked the way you organized your MEP's and the information in them...hopefully I don't get whipped for plagiarism. =D lol

And a special thanks to exedata for the uncompressed WAV's of the songs. Saved me lots of monies. XD

- Contact Us -

This section is to put down the extra contact information of all the editors for the MEP. This is so we can contact each other throughout the duration of the project and also maybe get to know one another. This is something we should be proud of together once it's complete so I would like lots of communication between us.

I guess that's about it. All rules and deadlines are subject to change just in case anything comes up. Let's get this started!

Could I have Walking Disaster?

I'm still thinking of an anime I could use. Or if I'm not good enough, that you could reserve the spot for me so I can make a beta?

You didn't post anything for me to look at...but I took a look at your previous works. Pretty interesting editing but the style I liked from your 'wack' vid doesn't quite fit this song.

For now, I'll reserve the spot until I see a beta from you.

The last track is really important in my eyes and I would love to see it done really well.

lol I was thinking about it and had it in the mix before, but ultimately it ended up not making the cut as I couldn't find a good spot to put it.

I understand what you mean, I'll try.

Edit: Actually, could I try out for In Too Deep?
Aspect Ratio: 720x480 (If you're using a widescreen source, please letterbox!)
Was that a good and you mean fullscreen sources, or what? I've never heard of letterboxing a widescreen source.

No. This part is sort of confusing for people who are unfamiliar with this (took me a good while to learn and I'm still not all that savvy with it). When using a widescreen source, like I used when I made Be A Man, I needed to resize my footage down to 720x480. But If I resized it down directly to 720x480, it would skew the picture which you never want to do. Instead, keeping the original picture, I resized it down to roughly 720x400 (if I remember correctly off the top of my head) and then added borders of 40 to the top and bottom of the picture, thus letterboxing it.

And yeah, you can change your claim to In Too Deep.

The mix is a lot better then the last time I heard it.

I might go for Makes No Difference with Full Metal Panic Fumoffu

I was going to go for In Too Deep, but w/e.

For some odd reason, I feel liked editing to Lucky Star.....

Thanks, glad to hear it.

If the tracks are labeled available, they're still available. This isn't first come first serve. Kaze and I will see which style we like best and then let the person know if they get the track.

Also, I see you've only edited one vid? Do you have any other AMV's we can take a look at?

On a side note, I was kind of envisioning Golden Boy to be done with Makes No Difference, but that's just me. hehe
