Manchester City's proposed move for Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo is on hold while Marc-Andre ter Stegen recovers from a knee injury.

City have discussed a £16.5million deal for Bravo but Ter Stegen is out for three weeks after straining a medial knee ligament last Thursday.

The deal for the 33-year-old Chilean shot-stopper could yet be revived once the German recovers.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Barcelona's other goalkeeper, is recovering from a knee injury

City's preference had been for Ter Stegen but Barcelona will not sell for less than his buy-out clause which is £69million. 


Sporting Lisbon's Rui Patricio had also been discussed by the Premier League club as Pep Guardiola looks to bring in a new No 1. 

And Joe Hart fears his Manchester City career is over after he was dropped by new manager Guardiola.

It is understood that City will listen to offers in the region of £20m for the 29-year-old England goalkeeper.

MARC-ANDRE TER STEGEN (Barcelona)

The 24-year-old German goalkeeper is said to be Guardiola's first choice but has a release clause of £69million.

CLAUDIO BRAVO (Barcelona)

Bravo, 33, fits the style Guardiola wants, and reports claim that a deal for the Chile international could be struck for less than the £36m buy-out clause in his contract.

RUI PATRICIO (Sporting Lisbon)

Has been consistently linked with City this summer, even before helping Portugal win Euro 2016. Thought to have a £39m release clause.

Hart is City's longest-serving player, having spent a decade at the Etihad, but he reluctantly accepts that Guardiola simply doesn't value him  

The England goalkeeper is under contract at City for another three years, and the club's hierarchy had been keen for him to stay. 

But Guardiola has other plans and would like to bring in a new No 1 before the transfer window closes.
