Dear Washingtonians,
Over the past week, I hosted three budget engagement forums where I heard from hundreds of community members and stakeholders from all eight wards about their budget priorities. Never before have I witnessed budget meetings as lively as these forums - people came ready to learn, and many brought their passion for the issues affecting Washington, DC. The conversations were spirited, the feedback was valuable, and I thank every resident who took time out of their week to attend.
At all three forums, residents made it clear that, like me, you want to protect our shared DC values. With a new President and renewed interest in local DC affairs from members of Congress, I know that many Washingtonians have concerns about how federal policies and laws might affect Washington, DC. Because we lack statehood, our local legislation is particularly vulnerable to meddling from members of Congress who wish to impose their personal beliefs on our residents.
Knowledge is power. If more Washingtonians understand exactly how Congress can interfere with our laws, we will be better prepared to stand up for our values. That is why I have created the DC Values Playbook, an overview of how the federal government can interfere with our local affairs through the legislative and budgetary processes and the key players who might be involved. I encourage you to download the DC Values Playbook and share it with your friends and family.
I am proud to represent Washington, DC, my hometown, and I will never give up fighting for our right to fully participate in our country's democracy. While we cannot know with certainty what lies ahead, together, we will promote and defend our DC values.

On Saturday, March 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,
the Bowser Administration will host the #SaferStrongerSmarterDC
Hackathon. Not a coder? No problem!
Anyone interested in helping us create a safer, stronger, and smarter DC should
register and attend.
The Hackathon will be led by the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, and residents will provide input on questions like:
- How
can smart technology play a role in making our neighborhoods safe and strong?
- How
do we ensure DC residents and businesses are more informed on
public safety issues in Washington, DC?

is FREE and is open to the public.

On Monday, Mayor Bowser celebrated the start of vertical construction at Audi Field. More than a decade in the making, the new stadium and home of DC United is set to be completed in 2018.
Last spring, the city began demolition at Buzzard Point, laying the groundwork for the current phase of construction. The 20,000-seat stadium is expected to bring 1,000 jobs to the community, attract one million new visitors per year, and spur over $1 billion in total economic activity.

DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) is the agency
in Washington, DC responsible for protecting child victims and those
at risk of abuse and neglect and assisting their families.
CFSA has an opening for a Program Specialist. The Program Specialist will work in conjunction with the Performance Improvement Program Manager and the Contracts Monitoring Division to compile and track data from over ten providers used to assess provider agency performance.
