Royal Caribbean International’s first Quantum Ultra Class ship, Spectrum of the Seas, made her debut in Shanghai on 3 June, making her the brand’s third new vessel to berth in the Chinese city.

The newbuild berthed at Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal after completing her maiden cruise, a 46-night ‘Global Odyssey’ that spanned 17 cities in various countries. Upon arrival, the ship was officially christened by her godparents – Chinese model, actress and singer Angela Yeung Wing (known as Angelababy) and Chinese actor Xiaoming Huang. The couple, who also serve as Royal Caribbean brand ambassadors, were joined by cruise line executives, Chinese celebrities and other invited guests.

Custom-built for the Chinese market, Spectrum of the Seas boasts multiple innovations, accommodates 4,246 guests and 1,551 crew members and is now the largest and most expensive ship in Asia. Take a short video tour of the vessel here.

“Royal Caribbean has always been known for innovating and pushing the boundaries and Spectrum of the Seas is a great example of this,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. “Spectrum brings to life the best of Royal Caribbean along with specifically designed and curated experiences for our Chinese consumers.”

Spectrum of the Seas will sail a series of itineraries from Shanghai before repositioning to Hong Kong in winter 2019.
