(FRANKFORT, KY) – The Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant Steering Committee will meet Dec. 17.
KRS 158.794 calls for the committee to advise the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) concerning the implementation and administration of the reading diagnostic and intervention fund created in KRS 158.792.
The committee shall be composed of 16 members including the commissioner education or the commissioner’s designee, the executive director of the Collaborative Center for Literacy Development, the president of the Council on Postsecondary Education or the president’s designee, and the following members to be appointed by the Governor:
- Four primary program teachers with a specialty or background in reading and literacy;
- Four university or college professors with a specialty or background in reading and literacy representing universities;
- One elementary school principal;
- One certified library media specialist; and
- Three individuals from the state at large with an interest in reading and
This meeting will be held via video teleconference. Members of the public may watch the meeting in Conference Room 417 at KDE, 300 Sower Blvd., Frankfort, KY 40601.
Visitors will be required to wear a face covering or they will not be permitted in the building. If a visitor does not have a face covering upon arrival, a face covering will be provided.
