I'm wondering if this is a country where it doesn't snow very often. In England we had the occasional snowy winter as I was growing up in the 1960s and 70s. Since the 90s cold winters have become pretty rare, so there is a generation who have never driven in winter conditions. In this film it appears that everyone is clueless, even the driver of the snowplough.
That's Montreal, Quebec about four or five years ago.... we watched this shitshow on the news that night. Hysterical, especially for people who should know how to drive in the snow and ice.
So I'm completely wrong then. Some people do forget how to deal with slippery conditions during the summer. On the way to work it used to be that the first frosty morning each winter there would always be a car in a hedge.
Thought it was just me who had loading problems sometimes, cuz I run script blockers(No Script for Firefox).
I've noticed lately, I dare not "touch" the video until the page finishes loading, or it just ignores the play click. Reload is usually the trick, but the KungFu vid a couple posts back took 2-3 tries...
After I left CO and lived in Texas, I sure got used to those winters. 50s & 60s most every day with an occasional cold front blowing through. Now? Moved again to AR and it's been a gorgeous fall. They say they get some snow every couple years which is fine with me.
I went to a couple years of college in Seattle, when it snowed we would drag a couch out of the dorms and station it at the top of this steep hill to watch the mayhem, many belly laughs. There is nothing more pathetic than a Seattle driver when it is icy. I've actually seen them park their car in the middle of the road and just walk away, blocking anybody else who knows how to drive winter conditions. Seattle, the "it is all about me me me city".
Been like that in Nebraska before. Catches even the most experienced drivers off guard.

ReplyDeleteCanada. I thought they knew how to drive on ice up there. Get off the brakes and steer - locked wheels have no steering effect at all.

People up there can't drive at high noon on the fourth of July. Why would you expect them to be able to do it in January?
