Mutual Aid: Food for the Future - Information Gathering
FareShare have been giving the mutual aid groups in the West End food every week for free which we have used to make food parcels and put into the community larders. They are where we've been getting the bulk of our food.

From October onward they are going to start charging us for food. To continue getting food that everyone can access we need to think about different possibilities for getting food. To get food cheaply we could buy food together as a community and everyone involved could get a reasonable amount of staple food for a week (at the start it would probably be fruit, vegetables, dry food, tins, pasta, and rice). The idea is that we could decide together what we wanted to buy and each person or household could choose the food they wanted from that.

We have some specific questions to start off the planning process for the future. We will use the answers to make decisions that take everyone's views and situations into account. If you have questions about this process, please feel free to email elswickmutualaid@gmail.com or arthurshill.mutualaid@outlook.com

This could include doing research to help us find inexpensive food to buy in bulk, reading about group structures, looking for a space to store food, packing food into parcels, delivering food (driving/walking/cycling), answering emails or phone calls, administration, finances, social media
Would you be able to travel to collect food? How far could you go? What might affect your ability to collect food?
Do you have any comments or questions to add?
Is there anything we should be thinking about or examples we should look at? Is there anything you're worried about?

We're interested to see how far apart people live and to see where the best venue would be to be in reach of everyone.
