Olympic bronze medal winner David Price is "definitely" still interested in a big domestic showdown with former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Price was in action back in March, when he suffered a brutal fifth round knockout loss at the hands of former world champion Alexander Povetkin. The contest was part of the undercard to the Anthony Joshua-Joseph Parker unification at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Price is now scheduled to see action on July 27th in Bolton.

Fury returned to the ring last month, when he stopped Sefer Seferi in four rounds. It was his first bout since stunning Wladimir Klitschko in November of 2015.

Fury is now scheduled to return to the ring on August 18th in Belfast - against an opponent to be announced.

Price expects to have a major fight by the end of the year.

"According to my management there could be a big fight in the autumn for me," Price told Sky Sports.

"That's why it's important to get this one done and dusted and out of the way, and then we can start talking about what's going to happen next."

Hopefully sooner than later, Price would like to get his hands on Fury.

Back when the two of them were rising up in the ranks, there were always discussions of matching them against each other.

But those discussions were watered down after Price suffered several stoppage losses.

Years later, Price is still very interested in that fight.

"Oh yeah, definitely. Definitely would interest me. Whether or not it's something Tyson Fury would be interested in is another story, because you've got to look at the risk-reward factor for Tyson Fury, which I've spoken to him about anyway," Price said.

"For him to fight me, I've lost five times, would he get any credit for beating me? Probably not and there's the chance that I could knock him out, there is that chance, although that's probably how he feels, there is always the fact that I think a lot of people would still like to see the fight.

"It's probably more interesting now than any other time, because of the circumstances that he's coming back after a long layoff. I'm kind of on the scrap heap in a lot of people's eyes, so it would be a massive opportunity for me to upset the apple cart as a massive underdog, so I think a lot of people are interested in it for them reasons. I'm definitely interested in big fights like that, course I am, that's why I'm in the game."
