Welcome to

Mr. Johnson's class

Thank you for visiting my website! Allow me to introduce myself. I began my journey as a teacher when I majored in English at the University of Houston. From as far back as I can remember, I was always intrigued with the English language and excelled in all things reading and writing.

I began my first career in the entertainment industry but never wandered too far off the reading and writing path. I am an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction books, articles, and magazines. I have had articles and editorials published in newspapers, periodicals, and industry newsletters. As a teacher, I am passionate about promoting the importance of reading throughout one's life - both for pleasure and to feed one's intellect. Know that influencing your child to read on a regular basis is of the highest priority to me.

I teach English III and Advanced Placement (AP) English Language and Composition and we are closely aligned with the national AP curriculum as developed by the College Board. This is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity. Founded in 1900, it was created to expand access to higher education. Today, the membership association is made up of over 6,000 of the world's leading educational institutions and is dedicated to promoting excellence and equity in education. Each year, the College Board helps more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success - including the SAT and the Advanced Placement Program.

While our class curriculum is rigorous, our aim is to duplicate the level of education your son or daughter will receive in college. We also prepare all of the AP students with the tools necessary to pass the AP exam in the Spring semester which most colleges accept as credit for Freshman English. The preparation they receive in both the AP Language & Composition (11th grade) and AP Literature (12th grade) will not only provide students with the skills to communicate at a higher level in college but also in their careers. Most importantly, your child will be taught critical thinking skills that will bode well for them in their adult lives and future career endeavors.
