Yeah, for the left torso there.

Also... Uh, yeah, I think I'm gonna saunter away for a bit. Get out of line of sight. I've done my job of making sure you guys could hit the targets in peace, but now it's time to withdraw in good order.

Hey PTN you forgot to update my artillery beacon ammo counter. I should be down to 1 of those left.

Sarath taking feedback on whether to hang near where I am and pop a beacon on one of the secondaries + TSEMP longshot, or move closer and make more likely to hit TSEMP and beacon shots on the Quasi or Shrike?

Absolutely finish shooting your artillery beacon ammo at the objectives before helping finish off the mechs imo. I think you can change facing to give yourself better shots with the TSEMP at least.

Yeah, I'd use walking MP to get turned around so I can face both beacons and not have the out-of-arc penalty on my turret weapons.

Tepegoz here

That was a glorious turn of events.

I'm going to keep moving up.

I'm going to suggest we all focus on the Quasimodo with damaging weapons and fire non-damaging stuff like TSEMPs at the Shrike.

Sarath See if you can maneuver to hit the left secondary in that lane. I will send a drone after the rightmost one.

On that note both enemies are sitting on previously marked hexes so I will be sending a second drone after one of the objectives on the left.

Skinwalker advise you hit the remaining secondary and come up to support the middle as the jag needs to disengage. Let my drone get that last primary at the back.

Jaguar Warrior GTFO. Thematically, all of this will be for nothing if our innovative leader bites it.

As far as I know, ArrowIV homing missiles will go for anything with a Tag on it. Flying or not. Although a dropship's not going to be an easy target unless it actually tries to land on the field. And even if you do hit it, you're going to need to do quite a bit of damage to actually bring one down reliably.

Although even a little damage is likely to force pilot checks which could end disastrously.

The Clans don't typically use DropShips as direct combatants unless there are WarShips involved or someone is throwing Captain Used-To-Be-A-Fighter-Pilot a bone.

DropShips can deploy 'Mech forces from altitudes where they are outright immune to ground-based reprisals. Whether the Nova Cat Star Colonel is aggressive enough to pursue a risky deployment when he has a clear numerical advantage is another story.

I kinda want to melt the Shrike with missiles again, although the Quasimodo is also tempting.

Overall the Shrike is relatively untouched and it being destroyed by a fuckton of artillery missiles is a hilarious outcome even if the quasimodo is a better target practically.

Dropships can drop mechs from LEO or higher with droppods or jj equipped mechs from decently high in the air where your tag wont reach.

in dark age Duke Sandoval had prototype JJs on his Mad Dog and used it to evac his sabotaged dropship that had almost reached orbit.

Yeah, Assault DropShips are definitely way back in the priority list for the Clans. I think they were just using Pentagons to escort WarShips until the Jihad era, when they started actually designing new Assault DS.

Rainmaker Update 8

Miraj was occupied. As Kavitha took a step back from the battle, she took a moment to query the Tepegoz’s computer system for maps. The enemy had been engaged across the relatively narrow battlefield Kavitha had decided to keep her forces in. By spreading out by stars, she’d created an impression of weakness—but her forces had only open plains to cross to link up with one another, while the Nova Cats had to wind their way through the Great Gash. That alone wouldn’t have been enough to overcome the difference in numbers, but even though the Nova Cat commander had committed every unit under his command to the defense, she still suspected the four BattleMech trinaries under his command had competed over who got to engage first.

It was just that sort of foolishness that Kavitha despised. She’d seen too many advantages thrown away by warriors more interested in pursuing their own glory than winning a battle in the here and now. Future honors were meaningless to the dead, and victory was never certain until the enemy surrendered or died. In the Nova Cat commander’s shoes, Kavitha would have chosen to crush a smaller attacking force with everything at her disposal, and laughed off any complains about the battle not being “fair.” That was what an advantage was.
