Area high school athletes nominated for Cincinnati.com Sports Awards

Winter sports in Greater Cincinnati produced some amazing athletes who, along with previously announced fall athletes, will be honored at the Cincinnati.com Sports Awards Thursday, April 18, at Music Hall, presented by TriHealth.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton and his wife JJ are the guest speakers for the event. Other sponsors include the Andy and J.J. Dalton Foundation, Skyline Chili and Cintas.

The evening kicks off with a red carpet event at 6 p.m. and the awards show starts at 7 p.m.

Spring athletes will be honored in a separate summer ceremony.

Fall, winter and premier athletes must RSVP using this link. Their coaches and athletic directors must RSVP using this link. Cincinnati Enquirer athletes of the week, as well as state champion teams, will be acknowledged at the event. Any winners and state championship team members can also use that link for free tickets.

Sycamore's Carson Foster set a national high schoool record in state swimming meet in the 200 meter freestyle in 1:32.99.

Highlands soccer's Carter Holmes opened the second half against Hopkinsville with a goal directly from the kickoff. The shot sailed over the keeper eight seconds into the half and ended up being the game winner.
