Position Summary

ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL COACH
Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
Full Time/Term
 
Primary Responsibilities

  • Assists the head coach with all areas of managing a volleyball program including, but not limited to, coaching volleyball student-athletes in any and all positions, scouting opponents, recruiting high-level prospective student athletes, working knowledge of video editing software, team travel planning, game management, managing and coaching camps, and supervising student managers
  • Performs administrative duties related to the volleyball program
  • Guides and mentors student-athletes throughout the academic year
  • Promotes Southeast Missouri State University and the athletics program through community involvement

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated successful volleyball coaching experience at the collegiate level or extensive volleyball playing and leadership experience at the collegiate level 
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate student-athletes academically and athletically
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach advanced skills, knowledge, and strategies required for a high-level collegiate volleyball program
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to NCAA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit qualified student-athletes
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours including travel, both in-state and out-of-state, for purposes of evaluating and contacting recruits
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students, faculty, community and media
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
