TalkTalk internet back up after leaving hundreds of customers unable to work from home

TALKTALK internet appears to be up and running again after going down earlier today and leaving hundreds of customers unable to work from home.

Outage tracker DownDetector reported complaints from 400 customers shortly after 8am this morning, March 24.

DownDetector appeared to be show issues in London, Manchester and Plymouth.

The apparent outage left frustrated customers flocking to Twitter to complain to the internet and phone provider, with many saying they couldn't work from home during the coronavirus lockdown.

One fed up Twitter user said: "Morning TalkTalk! How are things with the WiFi connections? Bristol seems to have gone down at 8.30 this morning - struggling to get back online for work."

Another customer said: "Great time for TalkTalk internet to die on us again, with two uni students and wife trying to study/work from home."

Someone else tweeted: "My internet not been working properly for two days. I live in East Kilbride area. I’ve tried contacting via the app however that’s useless."

Another customer said: "My internet keeps dropping off since yesterday morning. I reported this via text yesterday afternoon but haven’t received a reply yet. Please can you look into urgently as I need to work from home. Many thanks."

TalkTalk told us at 2.20pm that the issue appears to be fixed.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident affecting a small number of customers, which is now resolved.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and are pleased to confirm that there was no underlying systemic issue responsible for this.”

It's not clear exactly how many customers were affected.

The outage comes after millions of Brits were told to work from home if they can to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

Last week saw O2, Virgin, Tesco, EE, Three and GiffGaff go down as millions struggled to do their job from home.

Experts previously warned how UK internet capacity could be RATIONED to prioritise "critical" apps and websites during the coronavirus lockdown.

Last month, Virgin Media TV went down for thousands of customers during the Six Nations 2020 England rugby game.
