With this silly Cat vs Kite racing game.
The purpose of this board game and cards is to teach students that there is an easy pattern to spelling. It is all about the vowel.
The import vowels are marked in red, to help draw attention to there importance. Posters of cat and kite images are included, with 48-word cards.
Vowels a, o, u - will use the letter c. * Look at the cat image to remind them.
Vowels e, i, y will use the letter k. * Look at the kite image to remind them.
The vowel that follows the "k" sound will determine which letter to use.

A poster of the cat face - with the letter a, as the eyes, the Letter o, as the nose, and the letter u as the mouth, may help to make a mnemonic picture to aid students in remembering this helpful spelling trick.
GAME Play - Cat and Kite are in a race to get to the kid. This can be a one-player game -lesson or a 2 player game. Who will win? Use the cat cards to move along the cat trail. Words that have the vowels a, o, u will use the cat path.
Words that have the vowels e, i, will follow the kite trail.
