RM500k suitcase: Company director fails to show up, says Selangor top cop

SHAH ALAM: The company director who claimed ownership of a suitcase filled with over RM500,000 in cash found in a shopping centre car park in Damansara is still a no-show.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the man claimed he would show up on Saturday (March 30) to have his statement recorded, but he has not shown up yet.

"We do not care if he shows up or not to prove ownership. If the money is not claimed, we will proceed with the disposal of property procedures.

"If not claimed, we will first place advertisements in various media. If no one comes forward, the money will be handed to the Treasury," he told reporters on Saturday.

He said in addition to taking fingerprints from the bag and notes, the police were also analysing the items for trace elements of drugs and other substances as well.

"We will issue another update once we receive the analysis report.

"We are also curious about how and why the money was left there and whether there was supposed to be a transaction," he said.

On March 21, police received a complaint from the man who pledged to come to the station and give a statement after admitting the suitcase belonged to his company.

Comm Hussein also told reporters that the man would come on March 30 with evidence proving ownership.

It was reported that a security guard found the suitcase on March 20.
