Anyone who loves cozy mysteries with clean language and not filled with violence and sex will love this book and others in series. Nala is believable and likeable. But I love Max, her dog and partner in investigations. His character is so well written I can see him and his expressions when he talks. Will continue reading books in this series as they come out.

Max her dog, talks to her, and was obsessed over certain things, cheeseburgers for one.
Taking on arson claims, and no one wanted to take her and Max seriously with their finding. Setting out to prove who it was, resulting in mayhem and Max at the head of it all.
Delightful plot, readers will enjoy reading.

Arson Fire Clues: Real or Red Herrings??

Business has been somewhat slow lately for Nala's Detective Agency. But not all has been peaceful, since the city has had a rash of arson fires recently. Consequently, her business partner, Sawyer Donovan, has a potential case of arson / Fire Insurance Fraud for her to investigate. While attending the weekly dinner with her parents, Nala meets Teddy and his nephew, Adam, who are two fire investigators. They give Nala a couple of ideas of what to look for at a potential arson site. The case Sawyer has for Nala involves an insurance claim for a suspicious barn fire. With help from Sawyer and Elvin, Nala heads out to take a look at the fire scene. Elvin attaches a camera to Max's collar to get a look inside the barn.

The one aspect of the arson fires around town is that the buildings have always been empty and nobody was hurt. Suddenly, it appears that clues are being planted at the arson scenes in an effort to make it look like a fire fighter or investigator is setting the fires.

Who is responsible for the arson fires? Is the barn fire arson or a valid accident? Can Adam help Nala with her investigations? Can Nala unmask the arsonist?

This story is a little different in that there is no murder, but it is still a great mystery. There are the same great characters and situations with plenty of twists and turns. As usual, there is a lot going on outside of the investigation to keep Nala, Max, and the reader thoroughly engaged all the way through.

Another great adventure with Nala, a private investigator and her talking, crime solving dog, Max. When her business partner, Sawyer turns over some arson investigation cases to Nala, she is excited to be doing something more than finding missing animals. When there are fires set all over town, she feels the pressure of trying to find out who could be setting them, even though her father, Spencer the retired police chief warned her it was not her job. When Nala goes to one of the potential arson fraud cases with her nerdy friend and Sawyer they almost get themselves shot. But Max, equipped by her nerdy friend with a doggy cam finds something. Not wanting to get killed for this case, she turns it over to her father to get it to the right place. But still, the arson fires around town still seem to bug her. When Nala's father's long time friend and crack arson investigator is invited with his investigator in training, nephew to dinner, she is set on picking their brains for some answers. But will she get too close and get killed trying to tie up loose ends? Will her constantly running into Tyler her former boyfriend who didn't want a relationship get to her? Will she ever get her privacy back in her own home when she ended up with a unwanted roommate? Will her best friend Karly rope her into a fund raiser for the animal shelter? Will Karly convince Nala's mother to help her. This is a great series, fast paced and fun! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

What fun to be back in Nala and Max's world in this interesting book. I love Nala's calm acceptance of so many situations, and her steady "parenting" of Max.

A running gag in her life are dinners at her parent's house with a constantly changing cast of available make suitors. This time she was interested---but not romantically! The nephew of her father's friend Teddy (who is an arson investigator) is an extra at lunch with her parents. Adam is also an arson investigator like his uncle, but from another county. In town for a convention serendipitously at the same time Nala is doing arson investigation for insurance claims, she makes it a point to learn as much as she can from Adam.

The story is an excellent mystery with several smaller mysteries along the way. Wonderful characters and funny situations mixed with multiple puzzles make for an engaging story that was over too soon. I laughed so many times (mostly at Max) and was surprised several times along the way. Certainly a story that held my attention and kept me up late to finish! I'm looking forward to what comes next!

A Fire Investigation!

Sawyer, Nala’s investigative partner assigns Nala some possible arson fraud cases to investigate, a nice change from the lost cat cases she had been pursuing! It was certainly convenient that a friend of her Dad’s, Teddy, a fire investigator, was invited to family dinner where she could pick his brain. He brought Adam, his nephew, in town for the arson investigators convention. So, two people to glean info from! Just when Nala starts investigating her cases, an arsonist starts setting fires all over the town, a coincidence? Many twists and turns later, Nala doesn’t know what to think, as clues seem to be pointing to Teddy and/or Adam. Can she figure out what’s going on? I received a free copy of this book from the author and write this review voluntarily.
