Senior Art TripIn Art class we talk a lot about Art – what goes into it, the different styles that have developed over time, and the innovative people in history who made it what it is today. Last month Form 6 Art classes spent the day face to face with art. Firstly we visited the striking public sculpture ‘RGB Sconce’ by Alan Phelan. Then we saw paintings, sculpture, and interactive exhibitions in the Hugh Lane Gallery. Moving around the space, a profound sense of déjà vu came over us. We were able to identify some of the artworks we have studied as they are meant to be seen - amongst other art, beautiful architecture, and curious people. CAO ReminderForm 6 pupils at The High School have been preparing to complete their CAO and further education opportunities application forms over the last three years. They participated in a weekly Education for Living Module in Form 4 and enjoyed a weekly Career Guidance class in Form 5, where they used a Careers Portal REACH+ Programme, had one-to-one career guidance meetings with a Guidance Counsellor, and atttended Virtual Open Days at various universities. It is important for all Form 6 pupils to continue to conduct independent research on courses of interest using Careers Portal and Qualifax. Pupils should complete their Guidance 'Career Investigation' resources from their one-to-one meetings. Activities such as the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities, and Threats) analysis task will help pupils make informed decisions. Pupils should always bear in mind GOOP (Genuine Order Of Preference) when selecting courses on their CAO application. Dublin City Interfaith ForumIn preparation for our Leaving Certificate Religious Education (RE) projects and to revise aspects of the course that we have already studied our Form 6 RE class attended a lecture given by members of the Dublin City Interfaith Forum (DCIF) on Thursday 18 November. The event was organized by Ms Hutchinson Edgar and hosted and facilitated by Adrian Cristea. Among the many speakers we heard from were members of multiple world religions: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Baha’i. Our class prepared questions about our projects and the topics of gender, justice, and peace in advance. The talk was highly informative and gave us insights from the perspectives of
religions that most of us had not had the chance to engage with before. We are very appreciative to have had this opportunity to get sources for our projects and learn more about these religions.
