He said initial checks revealed that part of a building beam collapsed and damaged 10 vehicles that were parked there.

"The building affected is a commercial building which was not occupied at the time of the incident.

"As a precautionary measure, we conducted checks on all five floors of the building to ensure nobody was inside," he said, adding that there were no reports of injuries so far.

When asked if a foreigner suffered minor injuries in the incident, ACP Amihizam said they have yet to receive a report on that.

"We urge the public to stay away from the area for the time being.

"Do not speculate on the incident and be patient as the relevant authorities conduct thorough checks to ensure the building is safe," he said.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department personnel are still on standby at the scene.

Operations commander Armdan Mahat said initially a total of 26 personnel from Seputeh Hang Tuah and Tun Razak fire stations responded following a distress call at around 9.59pm on Tuesday.

"Our personnel are on standby at the scene as we worry more debris will fall.

"We will remain at the scene until the Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Public Works Department representatives conduct an inspection," he said.
