State polls: Landslide victory for Perikatan in Kedah


ALOR SETAR: Perikatan Nasional has won a landslide victory in the Kedah state election.

The coalition registered wins in 33 out of the 36 seats in Kedah, missing out only on Kota Darul Aman, Bakar Arang, and Sidam to Pakatan Harapan.

Barisan Nasional, on the other hand, lost all 15 state seat that it contested in the state polls.

Leading the convincing victory was caretaker mentri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who beat his rival Barisan's Datuk Muhamad Khizri Abu Kassim polling 21,823 votes against the latter's 5,773.

State Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid was the biggest casualty when he lost to incumbent Perikatan Mohd Radzi Md Amin.

Mahdzir received 8,024 votes while his rival Mohd Radzi comfortably won with 14,397 votes.
