Session Submission Type: Lightning Session
This session will bring together three new resources in biblical studies that should be considered for their contributions to the broader teaching of Jewish Studies. Those resources are The Posen Library of Jewish Culture and Civilization, Volume 1: Ancient Israel, from Its Beginnings through 332 BCE and the accompanying Posen Digital Library, The Jewish Annotated Apocrypha, and the Ancient Jew Review web journal.
The papers will address questions of:
Where does Biblical Studies fit into a Jewish Studies program/curriculum?
How can these resources be used in teaching Jewish Studies?
How do the resources reflect different strategies for “Introducing the Bible”?
How do each of these resources incorporate primary and secondary material?
In what ways are Biblical Studies and the study of Jewish history enriched by the availability and contribution of the many new digital resources?
What is included in the broader “canon” of the earliest of ancient Jewish texts?
