Man charged with murder of pregnant lover whose remains were burnt in Sungai Besar plantation

SUNGAI BESAR: A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his lover at the Magistrate's Court here on Thursday (June 1).

The accused, Muhammad Fakrul Aiman Sajali, nodded when the charge was read out in front of Magistrate Siti Hajar Ali but no plea was recorded as murder is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ku Hayati Ku Haron requested for time to await the relevant reports while the accused's lawyers, Khairul Anuar Kashim and Muhammad Nor Tamrin, asked for the case to be transferred to the High Court immediately.

Magistrate Siti Hajar set Aug 3 for next mention of the case while waiting for the prosecutions’ report and case management.

According to the charge sheet, the accused is charged with causing the death of Nur Anisah Abdul Wahab, 21, at Jalan Sungai Limau, Sungai Besar, between 8.30pm on May 22 and 8am on May 23.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and faces the death penalty if convicted.
