This is not an exhaustive list of all roads being repaired. Dorset Highways’ annual road maintenance programme, includes patching, micro-surfacing, surface dressing, in-situ recycling, road preservation and resurfacing treatments.

Using a variety of surface treatments ensures that more of Dorset Council’s roads get repaired with the budget available, compared to using resurfacing alone.

Surface dressing is also underway across the county.

All planned road works can be found online.

Please use our online form to report road-related issues/damage. This goes directly to the local community highways officer for assessment.

Additional safety measures

Additional safety measures are being taken to ensure the health and safety of workers in these unprecedented times. We are also working closely with other highway authorities across the south west and with industry bodies to share knowledge of new ways of working.

  • single person vehicle movements both to and from site
  • maintaining current social distancing requirements at all times
  • daily toolbox talks to share the latest safe working guidance and COVID-19 updates
  • daily health screening involving temperature checks and general well-being
  • no high-risk workers on site
  • revised working practices to reduce the number of staff on site while still maintaining health and safety standards when working on the highway
  • changes to site welfare, including additional toilet facilities and hygiene provision

Please be mindful of how you speak to our workforce, they are working within the Government’s guidance for construction activity – that it should continue where it fits with both the current Public Health England requirements and in accordance with industry safety guidance.

  1. Pity the pothole couldn’t be repaired so they last, I know of a lot of potholes that have been fix several times. Why are the repairs seal around the edges with liquid tar that would stop water getting and freezing during the winter?

    1. Sorry should have been not sealed around the edges.

      1. B3092 Back Street, East Stour – 10 June to 16 June
        road closed 9.30am to 3.30pm
Assume access will be allowed for residents and tradesmen?

        1. Hi Simon, the road will be closed in sections, so some access will always be available.
We do our best to maintain access to properties and businesses, but this will often involve a short wait while machinery moves or a task is finished. If you’ve got a particular concern regarding access, best thing is to speak to one of the workers on site who will try to help.

  2. When O When will you ever get to doing anything to the roads in Ferndown
especially Victoria Gardens. The volume of traffic ,S U Vs driven by mothers
taking a short cut on the school run, is increasing and the road surface is
deteriorating rapidly. We ,after all, are also Council Tax payers.

  3. I have read that 100 roads are being resurfaced in Dorset hardly any were mentioned in West moors
Compton Crescent is in desperate need of resurfacing when will this happen please
