UNC's McAllister Heart Institute (MHI) and the Integrative Vascular Biology (IVB) T32 Training Program jointly announce their Annual Research Symposium on Wed, May 26^th, 2021. The symposium highlights research from graduate students, postdocs, and medical fellows within the cardiovascular community at UNC and the greater Chapel Hill area and is intended to promote multi-disciplinary collaborative research.  Given the continued effects of COVID, this year's symposium will be held virtually and will be a bit shorter than usual (from noon -  4:30PM). There will be opportunities for both oral presentations (by Zoom) and poster presentations (by Gather). This year's keynote speaker will be Collin Stultz who is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT and a practicing cardiologist at Mass General. Dr. Stultz uses computational modeling and machine learning to study protein structure and for choosing cardiovascular disease treatment options. He will deliver a keynote address entitled "Artificial Intelligence in Cardiovascular Medicine: What makes a good machine learning model for clinical applications?".  A more detailed schedule that includes all presentation times/titles will be available in the middle of May.

Abstract submission -  For those who wish to present data at the symposium, please submit an abstract by Monday, May 10th. Abstracts should include a title, all authors and author affiliations, and are limited to 250 words (not including the title, etc). Note that you will need to have your abstract on hand during the registration process, and please indicate whether you wish to be considered for a limited number of oral presentations. Abstract submitters selected for oral presentations will be notified by May 14th. More details on presentation procedures will be sent out at the same time.
