The Organisation

Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) is implementing various initiatives funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), with support from Save the Children as the Grant Agent, from 2020-2023.


The Position

The GPE Activity Coordinator Pre-Service Training Primary is responsible to lead the implementation of all Pre-Service Training Primary activities within the GPE program, which include:

  • Strengthen the quality of the primary course modules, teaching, assessment and practicum through short and long term technical advisers;

  • Conduct a baseline and endline, including lesson observations, feedback, reflection and assessment;

  • Revise the literacy, maths and professional studies units;

  • Ensure the latest MoET curriculum materials, data and policy are fully integrated into primary courses;

  • Update the inclusive education course (coordinated with output 2);

  • Support VITE management on strategic development and administration;

  • Support accreditation of courses by VQA.


The GPE Activity Coordinator: Pre-Service Training Primary will report into the GPE Program Manager, with close coordination with VITE.


The initial contract will be for 12 months.


Essential Selection Criteria

► Graduate or post-graduate degree in education with a speciality in primary education

► 5 years experience in a Government or NGO environment

► Strong project management skills (planning, implementing, reviewing and reporting)

► Teacher training skills

► Excellent knowledge of primary education and curriculum

► Familiarity with Government of Vanuatu or NGO systems, policies and guidelines, ideally in the education sector

► Fluency in Bislama and English


Desirable Selection Criteria

► Knowledge of French is desirable
