Hi all,
I try to use the continuity calls through Instant Hotspot.
It's not working. I'm not sure if it's normal or if it's a config error of myself.
Do you have any idea how can I use it?
Because, in my job, I use my iPhone to be connected to the Internet. And Continuity calling should be very useful.
FYI, it's working fine when I'm connected to a regular wifi (sms, handoff, ect.).

When I try to make a call from the Mac when I'm connected on my iPhone using Instant hotspot, it says that I'm not on the same
wifi network than the iPhone. But, basically, Instant hotspot IS a wifi sharing right?

Handoff and Instant Hotspot are supported by the following Mac models, and require OS X Yosemite:

iPhone 5S and Macbook Air mid-2012.
(iOS 8.1 and yosemite)
Expect Continuity calls, all new features works fine using instant hotspot.
Handoff works also fine.
And all new features works also fine when i'm connected to a regular wifi router
In order to use the Call function you need to have your device updated to iOS 8.1
Use the same iCloud account on both devices
Enable Bluetooth
Enable Wi-Fi on both devices
CONNECT BOTH DEVICES TO THE SAME WI-FI NETWORK
Enable facetime on both devices
Enable iPhone Cellular calls on all devices
When you're on instant hotspot, you are not on the same Wi-Fi network.
Meaning, you cannot use instant hotspot to make Cellurlar iPhone Calls.

You don't use Continuity thru the Instant Hotspot.

I really hop that Apple will add the feature soon.
Because for me it can be very useful to make calls when my mac is connected to my iphone :-)

The feature is already here.
Do you mean that your Mac is not on a wifi network but you use the iPhone Hotspot for internet?
Yes, it's what I mean.
When I'm at my office, I don't have any connection. No Internet, no wifi.
So, I use my iPhone to connect on Internet to work.
Before iOS 8.1, I used to connect my iPhone using the USB cable. And when
a customer called me, I used the iPhone to answer. Normal...
But now with iOS 8.1, I want to let my iPhone on my jacket ann use the Macbook to answer calls and sms.
But if i'm connected to Instant Hotspot, the continuity calls is not working.
I can maybe add a airport router?
(I have a spare) But I don't know how to share my Internet access on the router.
Any other ideas or tips?
Adding a router won't help. In order to use the feature, both the phone and the computer need to be connected to the same WiFi network to access the Internet. The phone is creating the WiFi network, it can not, therefore, use that WiFi network to access the Internet.
It can't be a way that the router use the iPhone connection to give internet to other devices?

Question Ipad creating instant hotspot Phone and computer are then on this network. So why does it not work?
The whole point of being able to use the phone at work is that my internet wireless signal is too weak to use it on my normal network.
I have Lte and my speed goes form 600KBS to 40000kbs which allows me to have conversations using my computer.
Facetime audio did work although i answered it on my ipad it passed thru to the computer as the ipad is not on the network. It worked perfect
Cellular phone call continues to say that I am not the same network when I use the computer to make the call. Ipad same it just says it fails.
What can be done to solve if anything.
I have tested cellular calling with my computer and iphone at home where I have a great connection and it works perfect. So it is not a hardware problem.
