Why this petition matters

Started by Asuma Jalloh

As of today, countless Africans are being evicted from their homes in Southern China and being forced to live on the streets. The few that still have the luxury to stay home are forced to stay indoors with no access to basic essentials. As the world battles this pandemic, the last thing anyone needs is prevention from the basic needs of human life- food, shelter and clothing.

Furthermore, these actions go against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, specifically the following articles:

 (i) Article 1, which states that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood

(ii) Article 3, which states that everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.

(iii) Article 5, which states that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.

(iv)Article 9, which states that no one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention, or exile.

(v) Article 13, section 1, which states that everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.

(vi) Article 25, section 1, which states that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care and necessary social services... ;

China is one of the charter members of the United Nations and is one of five permanent members of its Security Council, therefore they MUST abide by these articles!

Therefore, we

1. call upon all nations to speak up against the discrimination of Africans in China;

2. Call upon African Leadership to take the LEAD in addressing the oppression of Africans in China by making an official statement letter to their citizen to raise awareness about and condemn the acts of violence and discrimination against Africans in China,

(ii) Call upon African Leadership reaching to convene meetings with the central government of the People's Republic of China and demand that actions be taken to protect the rights of the African community, and end the discrimination and eviction of Africans from their homes.

(iii) Call upon African Leadership to ask the central government of the People's Republic of China to direct the local government of all cities provinces and cities in China, especially Guangzhou city where the majority of these atrocities are taking place,  and demand the immediate end of the ill-treatment of Africans in Guangzhou.

(iv) Call on the keepers of international law to hold China accountable to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and condemn all violations against the fundamental Human Rights of Africans!
