The balcony of Europe
Nerja is most famous for the Balcón de Europa, a clifftop promenade with scenery right across the Med. It’s finished with cafés and restaurants, and also hosts festivals and shows. You can see along the town’s handful of sandy coves and the towering Sierra Almijara Mountains nearby.
Beach days, old town nights
Secure yourself a spot along the main beach, Playa Burriana, or hit the trio of small stretches to the east great for snorkelling. A short walk from the water is the quaint old town, where traditional Andalusian life is on show, complete with narrow streets and whitewashed houses.
Exploring Andalusia
You’re in a great spot to see some of Andalusia’s most famous cities and sights. It’s around an hour’s drive to Malaga and a little further to the historic town of Granada, where Moorish architecture thrives. There’s Ronda too, a striking town that spans the El Tajo Canyon.
