What Trump did was shrink the box that Chuck and Nancy put themselves in.

1. They cannot give Trump the money he wants. Their supporters will crucify them.

2. They cannot NOT give Trump the money he wants because THEY will be responsible for what happens. Their supporters will crucify them.

Chuck and Nancy are screwed and people are starting to realize it. Even CNN is starting to realize it.

Oh...wait...I forgot to talk about the Republicans. You know...the ones who don't like Trump but thought they had cover because they thought the Dems had him over a barrel? This puts them on notice, too. Support him or they will be included in with the Dems and get crucified...only it'll be by the Republican base.

If trump shuts the government again, it will be his fault. For him to say if the government closes again it's the democrats fault, doesn't make it so. It's like him telling the military they got a ten percent raise, he said it and they didn't get it. So much for trump says or trump claims. Mitch understands how much damage the first closure cost in money and political good will it cost the R's, he won't let the president shut it down again.

You don't pay enough attention to what you're doing/saying/thinking/writing to get even that much right. Most of those were "normal" infighting.

This was simple belligerence.

First the DACA kids and then federal workers.

It wasn't a stall due to disagreement.

It was absolutely, "give me everything I want or I will hurt people."

I refuse to consider trumps vanity wall until Republicans seriously go after those who hire illegals. They never have. Quite the opposite.

The dems take is stupid too. I'm sure they also have donors who like cheap labor and general wage depression.

Its illegal NOW to hire illegals. Trump is derelict in his executive duties in not enforcing these laws.

NOBODY on the right has so much as a harsh word for employers who use illegal labor. Listen for yourself.

A wall will take years to get built. Enforcing existing laws against using illegal labor could start TOMORROW.

If there is an emergency, shouldn't we use the immediate, available solution before we spend billions on a solution that will take years before it has any effect?

This is not a moral stand, it is "security theater". Bull**** designed to make you feel safe. It is not the most effective way to address the problem.

I didn't read your full list. Were some of those shutdowns "give me want I want or I'll hurt people"? If so, i condemn that behavior too. Don't care which side.

Trump supporters really need to sit down and evaluate the current situation. It's just wall funding the president wants. He doesn't want a new law enacted. He doesn't want a constitutional amendment. It's just funding. He has had two years of the entire federal government controlled by Republicans. They could have passed 20 billion in funding for the wall with 51 votes in the senate and a simple majority in the house at any time using reconciliation, just as they did with the tax cuts. Literally at any time. We also know that no one from the white house was communicating with congress that funding must include 5B for a border wall until Trump got hit from Fox News and talk radio. There was absolutely no push back to the bill that passed the senate until talk radio and Fox got a hold of it. If this was any kind of a priority at all this would have been communicated a long time ago. If you had a competent president that surrounded himself with competent people it's almost guaranteed that you'd have more wall funding right now than you currently do. They could have done studies and reports to show the parts of the border that currently don't have any barriers and that they'd be most effective at. They could have produced real numbers and reports. Instead you elected and support a moron that hires the likes of Omarosa and Cohen and is so lousy at his job that people do not want to work for him, is so dishonest that congress will not trust him unless he announces something publicly so he can't back out of it, who the people that currently work for him think he's such an idiot that they must leak anything and everything so that people know how bad it is and call him names and write articles about how the only reason they are working for him is to ensure that he doesn't destroy the country with his childish impulses.

He let the shutdown happen because he was sure the dem's would back down and give him some funding. He stopped the shutdown because republicans in the senate straight up told him that this **** show is over and they will pass something and override his veto. The only decision he has made is to start the shut down. Everything else has literally been dictated to him like a child. Any view, other than an incredibly humiliating defeat for Trump, is just plain wrong. If he lets another government shutdown happen then their is no telling what kind of **** show we will have on our hands. Senate republicans will not go along with it.

We all know exactly what is going to happen here. The dems are going to offer some funding to fix existing fences, they will offer money on border security and new tools and electronics and more patrols etc. just as they have in the past, and there will be absolutely none or almost next to zero new wall funding.

As I recall what the Senate passed in December didn't include specific language addressing physical security; it was more like a Lucy/Nancy holding a football and saying "Come on Donald, kick it, I promise THIS TIME I won't pull it away". Until that money is imbedded into an appropriate bill it is nothing. Promises from Dems are worthless.

You don't feel like addressing it because you simply can't. You're upset that it's anti-trump, but even more upset that it's all facts.

Even your response, if one would be so generous as to call it a "response", gets everything wrong. In December the senate overwhelmingly passed a bill to keep current funding levels through February so that talks could continue. Trump said no, after he said yes, and shut the government down. Then a month later and after millions of people missed a paycheck, he signed a bill that did exactly what the one in december did. Continues current funding til February. "As I recall" means that facts and truth and reality play no part in your view of this and if someone disagrees it's cause they aren't rational. It takes literally minutes to go look at what the bill from december did and what the bill just signed did. And now you have someone laying it to you and you are still in denial because you don't like the reality of it.

Oh please, no one is holding lives of illegals over US citizens. Disagreeing that a wall is the answer is hardly doing that. Trumpites need to grow up. The fact is this is not a National Emergency. It wasn't one during 2 years of Republican control and it isn't one now. Trump is just pissed and throwing a tantrum because congress is not forcing the American people to support Trump's lies.
