Position Overview:

The Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring the top priority items for his/her assigned products are ready to be worked on by the extended product team by ensuring we have complete user stories and acceptance criteria. The Business Analyst does this by working with the product manager(s) to understand why the item is prioritized and what is expected to be delivered.  The Business Analyst will also work with customers, internal stakeholders, QA and development to elicit further requirements. This person will be responsible for ensuring the product design has a good user experience and follows the style guide.  This person will be responsible for maintaining product documentation. The Business Analyst may be asked to help create a formal business case to “sell” the product idea internally or to customers. The Business Analyst will be responsible for managing risk and communicating progress and status throughout the projects.  This is a full-time exempt position; reporting directly to the VP of Product Management.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Become a functional product expert on all products assigned.
  • Help identify and document the business and operational requirements based upon the business needs & objectives of each product.
  • Ensure delivery of high value product changes to drive additional revenue opportunities.
  • Display critical thinking in cross-functional process analysis and problem resolution for new and existing products.
  • Help communicate priorities of business as needed.
  • Work with the product manager to identify risk and progress so projects.
  • Help track and communicate release plans to cross-functional teams and customers, ensuring overall success.
  • Work with the team to ensure on-time delivery of scheduled releases.
  • Identify and present innovative and creative product solutions.
  • Show working knowledge of all product integration/launches/changes for your products.
  • Coordinate and build strong working relations with various internal organizations including: product development, QA, customer care, implementations, sales, and account management.
  • Assist with training, and communication of new products/product changes both internally and with customers.
  • Have a solid understanding of agile software development – in particular scrum.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups with development team.
  • Recommend agile process improvements and work with the team to be as efficient as possible.
  • Participate in opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.
  • Use JIRA to track team progress and delivery performance.
  • Occasional nights and weekends may be required dependent on scheduled release dates.
  • Other duties, as assigned - Working in a fast-paced, growing company means you will sometimes need to wear multiple hats.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with software development with a small to mid-sized company.
  • Has knowledge of the SDLC.
  • Previous experience with a SAAS product preferred.
  • Working experience with agile software development.
  • Human capital software experience preferred.
  • Flexibility – Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment. It’s important to be responsive to internal and external changes and self-manage assigned tasks.
  • Ability to think abstract with demonstrated strong analytical & problem solving skills.
  • Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and strong technical aptitude
  • Experience with Jira administration a plus.
