Note from The BPF Team

Dear Members,

Time is definitely flying by as majority of us are working from home and we cannot believe that we are coming to the end of June already! As we know across the country businesses are re-opening their doors, and everyone will see more of their loved ones, whilst observing social distancing. But remember we are still not out of the woods yet!

As the British Pakistan Foundation (BPF) have taken a slight pause due to Covid-19, where we have not been able to deliver a variety of new projects to our supporters and members as we normally would have done. However, now that all seems to be falling into place, we will now be ready to work on new exciting projects and initiatives for our BPF supporters and members who are excited to be a part of them again.

We would like to carry on our mission of engaging, uniting and empowering community and without the support of our valuable members it won’t be possible. Please help us today by joining or renewing one of your memberships; Premier Club membership, Corporate membership and Patron membership. We are grateful to all our supporters and members who continue to help us grow in our mission.

As we go forward, we would like to understand how to keep you updated and help our community so please help us by taking part in our diaspora survey. We always value your comments, feedback and ideas.

We wish you all the best, and hope that you, your family and friends stay safe and healthy.

Best wishes,
BPF Team

Members Section - Poem By Alina Burney

For Floyd

Hey Chauvin, what exactly did you gain from that murderous killing?
Was there a void in your white privilege that needed filling?

Your knee, his face on that hard concrete ground?
People filming but why does it feel like no one was around?

There are the people that are meant to protect and promote the peace.
But how can there be any justice when there are racist police?

Why does it matter who you are? What race or what colour?
Every light that these police officers put out makes the whole world duller.

People need to stop treading that fine line between ignorance and silence.
Breaking that silence is the first step to ending prejudiced violence.

“Generations will grow, racism will diminish and people will start to rise above”.
At least, that’s the dream because at the end of the day it should all be the same love.

But for that to happen, the questions that will bring about these changes need to be answered.
Like how many more police will go on to kill whilst just getting pandered?

How many more black lives have to shatter,
For you to understand the true meaning of Black Lives Matter?

How many more people have to lose their lives when police bullets make them bleed?
How many more people have to beg for their lives and say “Officer, I can’t breathe!”.

George Floyd said he couldn’t breathe and there isn’t just one person to blame.
Our society is broken and we have to fix it before we “say someone else’s name”.
