From Monday 14 February to Friday 18 February, the bridge will be closed from 10pm to 8am the following morning. The bridge will be raised to enable a thorough inspection of the underside of the structure – this means there will be no access over the bridge for pedestrians, cyclists or vehicles.

After half term, from Monday 28 February to Friday 4 March, the bridge will be closed again each evening from 6pm to midnight. The road will be closed for surface repairs, there will be no access for vehicles but walkways across the bridge will remain open.

It is hoped that each set of works will only take two nights, however, road closures have been booked for five nights in case of bad weather.

During the daytime – Monday 14 February to Friday 18 February and Monday 28 February to Friday 4 March – there will be two-way traffic lights in operation over the bridge.

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists are being asked to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey into and out of town during these works.

Bus companies have been informed of the closures and may be running amended timetables, please check with the service provider.
