Kendrick Lamar, Sir Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift were supposed to be the headline acts at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The trio were due to be supported by Diana Ross in Sunday’s Legends slot, along with the likes of Noel Gallagher ’s High Flying Birds, Dua Lipa and Fatboy Slim, as the festival celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Those plans have been scuppered by the coronavirus, but organisers have promised that next year will celebrate half a century of music at Worthy Farm.

In a statement, organisers Michael and Emily Eavis have said: “We were so looking forward to welcoming you all for our 50th anniversary with a line-up full of fantastic artists and performers that we were incredibly proud to have booked.”

Glastonbury 2021 line-up

Next year’s festival will be between June 23-27.

So far no musicians have been confirmed for Glastonbury 2021 - not even this year’s confirmed bookings.

The biggest doubt of this year's headline acts is McCartney. A statement on the former Beatle's official website in May, confirming the cancellation of his 2020 tour which culminated in an appearance on the Pyramid Stage, said: “Given current and future work commitments it has not been possible to find alternative dates.”

The first artist publicly linked with next year's festival is Jessie Ware, after festival organiser Emily Eavis appeared as a guest on the singer's popular podcast, Table Manners.

Emily asked her: “Jessie, are you up for coming back next year? I mean, I’m thinking we make a plan now.”

Jessie quickly came back with: “Absolutely, one hundred percent. I was like there, watching my opportunity to play this album pass me by.

“Oh my god, absolutely! I now have it, in audible confirmation, I’m coming, I will absolutely be there, with bells on!”

Another initially linked with this year’s festival was Aerosmith, with many expecting them to be announced as a headliner.

In the end, they weren’t, but two UK tour dates - London’s O2 Arena on June 23 and June 29 at Manchester Arena - are in the diary for June 2021, with a Glastonbury-sized hole in the middle.
