Kevin Durant has been listed at 6-foot-9 since he came into the league.

Kevin Durant is not 6-9. He is not close to 6-9. He is not 6-9 without shoes, he is not 6-9 when he slouches, he is not 6-9 under any circumstances. Whenever Durant is standing next to 6-10 or 6-11 players, you always notice "Hey, 6-9 Kevin Durant is taller than that guy who is taller than 6-9." This has been the worst kept secret but it's been held up forever. Durant wanted to be seen at 6-9 for whatever reason, so his teams held to it.

Here's what the official Warriors' site lists.

But now, finally, after nearly 10 years of Durant continuing this lie, we can put it to bed.

The man is seven feet in shoes.

From CSN Bay Area's transcript of Durant's interview on KNBR.

Speaking to Bob Fitzgerald on KNBR, Durant put fact over fiction when answering the age-old question of how tall he really is.

"Since I love you guys so much, I was recorded at 6'10" and three-quarters with no shoes, so with my shoes on I'm 7-feet," Durant finally revealed.

So, why has Durant been listed at 6-foot-9 for so long? "I just like messin' with people. They just ask me so much... yeah, I just like messin' with people."

Now, this is a silly little thing that Durant just decided to have some fun with. But I will point out that Durant never felt comfortable in being honest about his height, never wanted to in Oklahoma City. In Golden State, he's more mature, and he's more open. Durant's embracing his true self in Golden State, in his play, his identity, his personality, and who he is.

But more than anything, I'm just glad we can stop with this lie about how tall Durant is. He's a 7-0, elite shooting, hyper-efficient, athletically monstrous super-forward. With the Warriors, Durant is finally standing as tall as he really is.
