The mail carrier heard a car door shut behind her and someone approaching.

Next thing she knew, a man had hold of her and was forcing her wedding band off of her finger, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives on Wednesday released a composite sketch of that wedding-ring robber in the hopes that the public may be able to help them nab him.

The forceful robbery happened Dec. 22 at 1281 NW 30th Terrace, north of West Sunrise Boulevard and west of Interstate 95, in unincorporated Broward County, said Gina Carter, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The robber got away with the silver band engraved with roses, Carter said.

He was described as being in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, clean shaven with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

A second man, Carter said, threateningly told the victim: “You’re in the wrong neighborhood.”

He was described as being in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with a stocky frame and a beard.

Both men had Caribbean accents, Carter said.

They fled in what appeared to be a rusty older model Lincoln or Cadillac that was light blue, purple and black, Carter said. Detectives think a third person was driving the car, she said.

Investigators urge anyone with information about the crime or the robbers to contact Detective Robert Sokol at 954-321-4229. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org.

Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
