Job Responsibilities

Provides instruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in courses assigned by the Program Coordinator. Uses current skills and knowledge to promote student learning and active participation. Ensures quality classroom and computer based instruction for the students as assessed by content mastery and competency-based skills. Must also provide a safe environment for student learning; encourages group activities and student involvement in class as appropriate. Compiles, administers and grades assignments and examinations in a timely manner so that the student is aware of his/her progress and allows time for the development of a plan that will promote student success and a positive outcome. Uses computer and Internet programs to disseminate information to students, prepares exams, and prepares class presentations as pertinent. Participates in the assessment of instructional needs for the designated EMS programs. Plans, evaluates, revises, develops, and implements materials such as curriculum needs, course syllabi, and student outcomes to assure the completion of program goals and requirements. Actively participates in meetings called by the Program Coordinator for the purpose of disseminating information. Provides input into the decision making process or for the sharing of expertise with colleagues. Participates as a team member in assessment, implementation, and evaluation of Program Effectiveness and assists in implementing changes according to the recommendations set forth by the accrediting agencies. Ensures that the program remains in compliance with said rules and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Program Manager.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and related instructional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree with 3 years instructor experience or High School Diploma with 5 years instructor experience. Current certification as a SC Paramedic. Successful Completion of SC DHEC approved Instructor Methodology Course. Certification as BLS instructor through the AHA or ASHI. Certification as a DHEC EMT Instructor within 6 months. Successful Completion of the WorkKeys Assessment.

Additional Comments

Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four hours per day. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work involves light exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
