The search is on for an escaped prisoner who fled from a Florida Department of Corrections facility late Tuesday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Jacob Matthews-Bull, 31, was under sentence for burglary at the Bridges of America center at 601 Agmac Ave. when he fled, the Sheriff’s Office said. The private program allows Duval County jail inmates to work during the day, then attend substance-abuse treatment, education and vocation courses at night.

Bridges of America officials said illegal drugs were found on Matthews-Bull when he reported back to the facility and was searched, police said. He fled from corrections employees into a wooded area near the facility just east of North Lane Avenue.

Matthews-Bull was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and silver and black athletic shoes, and has multiple tattoos on his body, arms and hands, police said.

Anyone with information on Matthews-Bull’s location can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or leave an anonymous tip and be eligible for a possible reward by calling First Coast Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477 (TIPS).
