本科目授課時間為一學期，每週2小時，共2學分。教學重點包括：國際安全研究學門的由來及其重要性、國際安全理論、國際安全研究的探討議題、以及當前國際安全威脅的主要來源等。
能力項目說明
第一、透過研讀具有代表性的學術著作(專書與期刊)，協助選課同學瞭解國際安全研究的發展經過、研究主題、分析層次與研究面向；第二、協助選課同學瞭解、分析國際安全研究的重要概念，例如：集體安全、嚇阻、軍備管制、軍備競賽、恐怖主義、核武擴散、危機處理、人類安全、非核區、信心建立措施、以及恐怖平衡等等；第三、透過探討當前國際社會面臨的主要安全議題，例如：分離主義、環境與生態安全、經濟安全、國際恐怖主義、領土與領海爭端以及區域性安全問題等等，增進選課同學對研究國際安全之興趣與能力。
