You’d expect a retail icon like Nordstrom to know how to make your Vegas shopping experience one-of-a-kind. With James Beard award-winning chef Tom Douglas onboard for the latest venture at its Fashion Show store, there’s even more reason to visit.

Named after the wife of former chairman Bruce Nordstrom, Jeannie’s is a contemporary, 117-seat dine-in restaurant located on the third floor. Jeannie’s marks Douglas’ second collaboration with the Nordstrom company, following the June opening of the chef’s Japanese-inspired Department Bento in Washington.

The casual but sophisticated Jeannie’s replaces the former Marketplace Cafe and offers handcrafted pizzas (for which Douglas is renowned), grilled-cheese sandwiches or “toasties,” pastas (baked cauliflower mac and cheese, anyone?), salads, gelatos and more. Worked up an appetite with all of that holiday shopping? Order the roasted apple appetizer ($12) with thick chunks of smoked bacon, balsamic crème fraîche and rosemary. Or go for the updated Nordstrom staple, a cup of Roma tomato basil soup ($5-$7). Pair that with Beecher’s flagship cheddar toastie ($10) and a kale salad for a complete meal. “I know everyone has one,” Douglas says the kale salad ($11), which boasts marinated lacinato with Calabrian chilies, pine nuts and Parmesan. “But I think ours is the most delicious.”

Douglas’ craft really stands out with his pizzas. The fennel sausage pie ($18) with tomato sauce, roasted peppers, shaved fennel and Parmesan is robust and balanced by the bright herb, and the roasted oyster mushroom pie ($19) with balsamic caramelized shallots, Italian taleggio and thyme is a must during colder months. Finish things with a scoop of gelato and a handcrafted cocktail, and you’ve got the shopping pick-me-up down to a science.

Jeannie's Nordstrom, Fashion Show, 702-862-2525. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 pm.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
