In a vote that ended Dec. 28, cincinnati.com readers voted for the Cincinnati Enquirer athlete of the week winners for Dec. 17-23, sponsored by TriHealth.

You do not have to be a subscriber to vote, a period that lasts Monday afternoon to Friday at 3 p.m. each week. Please submit any nominees by Sunday (Dec. 30) for the previous week's performances to mlaughman@enquirer.com. The new ballot will be posted Monday. You can vote once an hour from any device. 

Teams of the week will have a feature done on them the following week.

This week's winners are:

Ohio basketball team of the week: Harrison boys – Led by the Kinnett cousins, Harrison was a 4-18 cellar-dwelling squad last year who is undefeated in the league after wins over Edgewood and Talawanda

Northern Kentucky basketball team of the week:  Conner girls – Thanks to Courtney Hurst’s 27 points, Conner beat Bullitt East 66-59 in the championship game of the Queen of the Commonwealth Tournament Saturday.

Ohio boys basketball: Nick Haddad, Turpin – The senior guard had 23 points and four rebounds in a 54-50 win over Eastern Cincinnati Conference rival Loveland Dec. 18, helping the Spartans to first place in the league as of Dec. 23.

Northern Kentucky boys basketball: Mason Rusch, Calvary Christian – Against Silver Grove Dec. 20 in a 104-66 victory, Rusch scored 32 points on 13 of 16 shooting from the field. He also finished with eight rebounds. The junior guard ranks second in the area in points per game with 26.5 per outing.

Ohio girls basketball: Gabbie Marshall, Mount Notre Dame – In a 68-47 win over Beford North Lawrence Thursday, the senior guard scored a career-high 27 points, going 7-for-11 from deep as the Cougars extended their winning streak to six after a season-opening loss to Africentric.

Northern Kentucky girls basketball:  Morgan Stamper, Simon Kenton – The junior guard led the Lady Pioneers to a 57-41 victory on the road in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic against tournament host Lexington Catholic High School Dec. 21. In her second double-double in as many games, Stamper scored 20 points and 17 rebounds in Simon Kenton's tournament opener. After the game, Stamper announced her verbal commitment to play at the University of Pikeville to the UPike head coach in attendance at the tournament. Stamper also recorded her 500th career rebound during the game on Dec. 22.

Boys bowling:  Eric Hamilton, Deer Park – The junior had a high series of 399 in a win over Reading Dec. 19.

Girls bowling:  Chelsea Hammer, Deer Park – She had a high series of 402 in a win over Reading Dec. 21.

Boys swimming: Kellen Roddy, St. Xavier – He won first place in the 500-yard freestyle at the St. Xavier dual meet.

Girls swimming:  Brooke Kamstra, Seton - A freshman at Seton High School, Kamstra placed first in four events last weekend in a tri-meet against Anderson and Highlands, helping lead her team to victories over both opponents. Kamstra took first in the individual 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. She was also a member of the winning 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relay teams.

Wrestling:  Michael Leicht, Campbell County – The sophomore had four pins in the least amount of time at the 2018 NKAC Wrestling Tournament. He won the 195 weight class over his Cooper opponent helping the Camels win first place as a team.
