Parliament, Sunday, 23 September 2018 – Four National Assembly Portfolio Committees will be active this week at three fronts in Parliament in Cape Town, on outreach sites and on the international front.

On Tuesday 25 September 2018, the National Assembly (NA) Portfolio Committee on Communications will be briefed by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board on the turnaround strategy of the public broadcaster. The briefing will also include details around the shortlisting of candidates for the Boards of the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) and that of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

On Wednesday 26 September 2018 the National Assembly (NA) Portfolio Committee on Police will be briefed by the South African Police Service (SAPS) on matters related to the roles, responsibilities, safety and security of Parliament. This follows the request from Committee Chairperson Mr Francois Beukman to convene a special meeting on South African Police Service (SAPS) security measures at the National Legislature following the recent shooting incident at Parliament.

Portfolio Committee on Rural Development and Land Reform will be on a study tour in Canada from 24 to 28 September 2018.

The National Assembly’s Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements will be engaging stakeholders on the Property Practitioners Bill at the Jack Botes Hall of the Municipality in Polokwane, and at the Indaba Auditorium of the Bram Fischer Building in Bloemfontein on the 26 and 27 September 2018 respectively.
