Solar Co-op News
Our Citrus County League will be launching its first solar co-op ever on February 21, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Ridge Library, 425 West Roosevelt Blvd., Beverly Hills, FL. After the launch, we will have three information meetings throughout the county for the public. The first will be Wednesday, March 6, at 6 pm at the Citrus County Extension Service in Lecanto. Meanwhile, Kate Betsko and Maxine Connor have been showing a PowerPoint presentation created by Solar United Neighbors of Florida to government officials, such the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and various groups and clubs, such as Rotary Clubs. The BOCC passed a resolution on November 14 stating that “Citrus County Board of County Commissioners supports the recommendation by the League of Women Voters’ initiative to educate its citizens in Citrus County regarding the solar energy co-op and to help obtain the highest quality technology and products at the lowest possible cost.” We sincerely appreciate their support. Also, we are pleased to announce that we have four partners so far: Sierra Club Suwannee St. Johns Group, Kings Bay Springs Alliance, Nature Coast Unitarian Universalists, and Citrus County Extension Service. By the way, in 2017 the Catalog for Philanthropy named Solar United Neighbors “One of the Best” small nonprofits in the Washington, DC area for their programmatic impact and financial responsibility.
