Huge fire on M4 was car transporter carrying 10 vintage movie cars - including a Batmobile

Classic movie cars including a Batmobile and Dukes of Hazard Dodge Charger were being transported when it caught fire

Dramatic pictures of a large lorry fire on the M4 have emerged showing a car transporter engulfed in flames.

The transporter was carrying 10 vehicles at the time, all believed to be famous models of American muscle cars, classic movie cars and superhero cars.


Members of the public have speculated the transporter and cars belong to track-day experience company Car Chase Heroes run by Blendini Motorsport.

The huge fire could be seen for miles, and the motorway was closed while firefighters battled the blaze.

From images taken of the scene last night at around 9.35pm, cars visible at the rear of the transporter include an MX-5 race car, Ford Gran Torino, Chevrolet Corvette, and a Dodge Charger in the style of General Lee the famous Dukes of Hazard car.

Among the cars is a Classic Batmobile from the 1966 TV show starring Adam West and Burt Ward.

The fire started on the M4 Westbound near Junction 18. Avon Fire and Rescue confirmed when they arrived three of the vehicles at the front of the transporter were "well alight".


Because of the severity of the fire, emergency services had to completely close the westbound carriageway for a time.

Police were at the scene to assist the fire service with the incident and close lanes.

Officers attending believe the fire may have started in the cab at the front of the HGV.
