Profiles in History “Love Liza” auction Paley Center sneak peak.

Profiles in History has just finished setting up their amazing “Love, Liza” auction  display at the prestigious Paley Center for media in Beverly Hills, CA today, and Movie Prop Collectors had a sneak peak of  things being set up before the opening on April 4th, 2018.

Update 4/4 5pm Eastern: Movie Prop Collectors will be in California next wee to attend a special viewing of the Profiles Liza Exhibit, Monsterpalooza, as well a special peak of Profiles June 5, 6, 7, and 8th huge 4 day auction: Icons of Hollywood.

I will be sharing special photos and video of all of these exciting events.

Academy Award winning actress. singer, and dancer, Liza Minnelli, has decided to share with her fans via this once in a lifetime auction, some of the most important and meaningful costumes, personal items, and ephemera from her vast career, as well as items owned by her equally famous and beloved actress, singer, and dancer, mother, Judy Garland, and her filmmaker father, Vincente Minnelli

Halston is sponsoring the Paley display which will also celebrate Liza, and her parents, Judy Garland & Vincent Minnelli.

The list of items includes Liza’s iconic Cabaret costume consisting of her bowler hat, boots, and halter top vest,  and her Cabaret script, with her hand-written annotations. The 1972 musical earned Minnelli a best actress Oscar for her

performance as Berlin nightclub singer, Sally Bowles . Liza’s hand-annotated shooting script for “Cabaret” will also be auctioned. The auction will include Liza’s special 1971 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.

Per the Hollywood Reporter:

Liza said, ‘Purge, sell it! We’ve got to do something with it,” (Profiles CEO, Joe) Maddalena tells The Hollywood Reporter. His advice was to return the love to her adoring fans, which is precisely what she will do with some 2,000 lots going up for auction on an undetermined date in June. Proceeds will go to the Great American Songbook Foundation, established by Feinstein and dedicated to educational and performing arts programs. You can get a look at 150 of the items at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles through April 29.

“Judy Garland’s screening copy of The Wizard of Oz,” gushes Maddalena. “We found Judy Garland’s test wig she wore for The Wizard of Oz as Dorothy! Nobody has ever had an auction as comprehensive. Celebrity correspondence, she was friends with everybody. Great letters from Betty Ford to her talking about their life and the Betty Ford Center.”
