I'm actually pretty impressed with what they did do. The top of the console as well as the underside of the controller have a very sleek and good looking texturing that offsets the plainness of the matte finish on the One X (I prefer the matte after owning an original Xbox One which picked up dust, light scuffs and fingerprints very easily on the glossy plastic finish). The understated "Xbox green" printing on the console and the controller looks awesome in person, and is great fan service to the Xbox brand. I also like the monochrome look of the controller - the gray buttons contrast nicely with the green Scorpio lettering. The included stand is substantial and feels quite secure for mounting the console upright.
As for the One X console itself, it's a heavy (very heavy!) and well-made, beautifully designed, piece of technology. Nearly everything you do is benefitted by the enhanced internals, especially the 12GB of super fast RAM. Just like upgrading RAM on a PC is a better overall experience, the same can be said of the Xbox One. I have yet to own a 4K TV, though that is definitely a focus now, but even at 1080 everything looks better, even the dashboard UI. When I first booted the system and began to set it up, there was (of course) a patch to download, but while it downloaded, a message displayed which let me know that I could get a head start on setup by inputting a code into the Xbox app on my phone: a nice touch. As I am a busy person I have yet to play any real games, but I will update my review with my impressions of gameplay and graphic quality. All in all, at this point, color me impressed!
UPDATE 11/14/17: The One X forces something like 16X anisotropic filtering at all times, and it shows immediately. I booted up Destiny 2, already a beautiful game, and the colors and detail popped much more on a 1080p monitor than on the regular Xbox One. I still saw some aliasing, which isn't surprising since it's still running the basic assets. Next month, Bungie will patch the game to 4K, at which point the aliasing should disappear and the game will look eye-bleedingly good.
UPDATE 11/16/17: Halo 5 is the only game I currently own which has the 4K patch available. The result on a 1080p monitor is unbelievable. I have never seen a game look this good on a console. Can't wait for a 4K TV.
This is a dense system very heavy but not difficult to move; You can tell Microsoft put their heart and soul into this product. The system have a lot of power in it and perfect for showcasing your 4K TV. Xbox One X is quick with the UI and it does open apps insanely fast. 4K HDR looks phenomenal Gears 4 and Forza 7 really shine on the system just wish they had more new first party games that took advantage of the system at release. The family loves using it and they loves the 4K Blu-ray built in. In my opinion it really is and remain an all in one box; that was Microsoft vision and I believe they promised on that.
$500 is a steep price to pay at first but I feel like the investment and value is there just not “unlocked” And the X is surely to come down in price with retailers in the next 6 months. Xbox 360 games look better but don’t expect a massive improvement. All in all it’s the perfect streaming box and the most powerful console in the world right now. Spend the extra cash on the Xbox One X and have it all.
(Note: Get a external hard drive. It is a MUST. No really, AAA games now take up nearly 100GB of space or more. I get it with the massive 4K textures but this takes the cake. I now have 214GB left from the 1 TB and keep in mind that not all of these are UHD games but imagine 1-2 years from now. 1TB is not going to cut it.)
Update 11/23/17: I’m already out of hard drive space not even a month away. So yeah I would highly recommend a 2 - 8 TB HDD if you certainly going to download a lot of games. Destiny 2 will get an 4K HDR patch next month. As it stands it’s 33 GB, the 4K textures on this game is going to be massive I’m sure. I notice someone else said you shouldn’t be shocked by games eating up space and questions people if they are gamers who are stunned by this. That is besides the point, I’m not “shocked” by the space being so overblown. I’m simply pointing out that these companies can’t get away with such small storage for much longer going forward and for YOU to get an HDD as soon as possible. They are already working on improvements to how storage is handled. For expample: Devs can cut out things that don’t matter to the local country games and giving you the opition deselect language packs. This is what is needed going forward and atlease glad they are going to do something and I’m proud of that.

Basically silent as well, with the compact size and power I thought it might be noisy but if it weren't for the power light I wouldn't even know it's on. Significantly quieter than my PS4 Pro.
