Zach Kerr says Broncos have most talented DL he’s played on

Broncos defensive end Zach Kerr, who spent three seasons with the Colts before signing with Denver last offseason, is impressed with the team’s talented group of defensive linemen this year.

“I honestly believe that this is probably the most talented unit that I’ve been a part of,” Kerr said after practice on May 30. “Domata [Peko] going into Year 13, [Derek] Wolfe is Wolfe, Shelby [Harris] played at a high level last year, Adam Gotsis played at a high level last year.

“You have Clinton McDonald in and he’s a proven vet. A couple other young guys — DeMarcus [Walker] is playing really well. It’s definitely a lot of competition but that’s a good thing. That’s the NFL for you. You never really want to have a major fall off from your starter to your backups.”

Kerr makes a good point — the Broncos do have a deep group of defensive linemen. The group is so deep that Kerr may be competing for a spot on the 53-man roster this summer.

Last year, Kerr recorded just 19 tackles and half a sack in 11 games. He’s unlikely to start this season but Kerr has a shot to contribute as a rotational defensive lineman if he can make the final roster.
