Boot Camp for Special Education Educators

Are your or will you be a first year Special Education Teacher? Do you have little to no idea where or how to even begin? Are you a special Education Teacher looking for a refresher for your spirit, more efficient paperwork process or evidence based instruction? Boot camp for Special Education Teachers is a way to get a jump start on the new school year with effective tools ready to go. This course will explore the different areas of disabilities, as well as gain an understanding of a quality IEP.

Strategies will be provided to assist you in:
*Understanding the 16 categorical disabilities and how to unlock the best ways of teaching students
*Understanding, reading, and writing evaluation reports
*Scheduling
*Writing present levels and objectives within the IEP
*How to deal with challenges in the special ed context
*Writing Behavior Plans
*Electing/evaluating accommodations and modifications to help students be successful in the general education setting
*Using Evidence based practices for specialized instruction

Lunch on your own
Optional 1 hour of graduate credit available.
