Basics Summoner
Summoner Basics
A summoner is a class that utilizes
pets to inflict damage at enemies. The pets are basically the summoner’s weapon, with their own stats and Photon Arts (PA). Pets are most damaging when using Summoner main as the class have a couple of ways to raise the pet damage. Being a Summoner is relatively more expensive compared to other classes: instead of eating up your assets, it will directly eat your Meseta, time, and your precious SG.

Summoner Tutorial Quest
Check the Tutorial Quests on Quest Counter to know the basic way on how Summoner fights.
Summoner Mag
Mag Basics
At a certain point early in the game, you will get a Mag. If you are to use Summoner as-is. You will want a 200
TEC/T-ATK Mag (unless you plan to sub Bouncer or Phantom, see below). Only increase the
TEC on your mag, and nothing else.
Although Summoner can use MEL/SATK or RNG/R-ATK for pets, focusing on TEC is easier for the endgame:
- TEC affixes are relatively cheaper than the other two.
- Mag will have PP Restore J action which boosts PP regeneration at certain interval. While unreliable, it's helpful when active.
- Resta, or healing depends on TEC only.
- Rappy Melody's heals depends on their and character's TEC.
- Rykros Staff's Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) depends on character's TEC.
It's easier to just use TEC/T-ATK Mag! Just fill your Mag with tech weapon like Staff, Wand, Talis, or Jet Boots, and reduce its DEX by feeding it with Mates or ★6 Room Goods!
MEL/S-ATK Mag is not recommended! It will only support Fi's Crazy Beat and will be obsolete once you use Phantom sub! Don't make a special mag just to support 1 skill! For a bit more info please see
the FAQ!
Fixing Mag
Fixing Mag
If you messed up your mag's stat, you can fix them by using a Mag Level Down Device, which costs 5 Excubes. Excubes are rare commodities until you can do XH+ Quests which requires level 80+.
Getting Eggs via Collection Files (CF)
Collection File Eggs
You can get decent eggs from Collection Files (CF) that Ms. Pudding provides. CF is basically killing specified target mobs until you gain a required item; once you obtained all required items, you will automatically get the reward item. For example, to get a ★13 Jinga from the Summoner Support CF, you need to obtain 6 items from killing any enemy, Mechs, and Blu Ringahda. This is very easy to do, particularly because all enemies required for the items can be found on the Quarry.
CF has few quirks including:
- CF required item increase rate can be boosted by using Rare Drop Rate, Tri Boost, and anything that boosts rare drop
- CF required item gauge will only increase if you clear the quest. If you kill enemies and abandon quest, the CF will not raise.
- On normal circumstance, a CF required item will only drop if you start a quest at 100% gauge. Simply put, you need to have at least 2 runs for a CF item to drop: 1 run to max it to 100%, the other is to drop the items. If you start the quest with the gauge at 99.99%, the item will not drop and clearing the quest will simply put the gauge to 100%.
Wanda-Jinga has no particular weakness and is easy to use! If you see them on CF, grab them first!
Summoner Skill Tree
Summoner Skill Tree
The table below lists all Summoner skills by priority.
Icon |
Skill Name |
Notes |
|
All Attack Bonus 1 / 2 |
Each skill multiplies damage by 115%, for a total of 132.25% damage (115% * 115%). |
|
Pet Sympathy |
Main Class only.Pet will ask for Shifta during attacks (higher chance on E-Trials or when attacking bosses) and Resta when low on HP.Fulfilling Shifta request will multiply pet damage by 120% at L10, while Resta will double the amount of heal the pet receives.Lasts 90 seconds. |
|
Harmonize Up |
Main Class only.Increase the chance of pet requesting Sympathy. At first, spend only 1 points until you get more SP to get 5. |
|
Sympathy Time |
Main Class only. Increases the duration of Sympathy to be 180 seconds at L5.You will not want a gap in your Sympathy buff, since you are recommended to take 1 Harmonize Up. |
|
Easy Sympathy |
Main Class only.Extends the window when pet asks for Sympathy by 10 seconds, making it 20 seconds total. This skill is crucial if you cannot fulfill Sympathy immediately, such as during downtime of bosses. |
|
Long Distance Love |
Main Class only. You can fulfill Sympathy needs even if the pet is far away.Only work on Sympathy request; you cannot use this to remote-Shifta your pet. |
|
Summoner's MarkPoint Assist |
Gives a mark on an enemy part.Upon hitting the said part, damage is multiplied by 115% for both pet and character. |
|
Assist Share |
Main Class only.Allows switched pet to retain all buffs of the previous pet. |
|
Enhanced MarkSupport Fire |
Increases damage to all parts of the enemy affected by point assist by 110%.If a part is marked with Point Assist and you have Support Fire, that part will take a total of 126.5% damage (115% * 110%).If you mark a part with Point Assist and you attack a different part, that different part will take 110% damage only. |
|
Pet Elemental Precision HitPet Element Weak Hit |
Increases damage when attacking enemies with their elemental weakness.Pet attacks are multiplied by 110%, while character is multiplied by 105% instead. |
|
Pet Elemental PP Restorate |
Main class only.Increases PP gained with pet normal attacks when attacking enemies with their elemental weakness. This skill is required if you are to use high-output pets like Synchro. |
|
Dia MasterDear Master |
Main Class only.Character will gain invulnerability when receiving a damage that would kill them and the damage will be delivered to pet instead. This skill technically adds pet's HP to character's HP, making you more less immortal as long as you have a per out.Maxing this skill will remove a lot of "challenge" on higher level quest. |
|
Alter Ego |
Main Class only.Multiplies damage by 120% for 60s, but you will also take a portion of damage that the pet takes. The transferred damage can be mitigated if the character is invulnerable, e.g. during Mirage Step. However, your character is not invulnerable during a knocked-down state. (leading to something I call "Summoner Blues"). |
|
High Level Bonus Su |
Requires L80 Su.Multiplies all damage by 105% |
|
Alter Ego Harmony |
Requires L85 Su.Main Class only, no SP required.Grants character super armor, status immunity, and massively cut all damage received by pet and character during Alter Ego.This skills adds extra breathing space for low defense pet and make high defense pet practically invulnerable. |
|
HP Up / Mega UpHP Up / High Up |
Increases HP.Do not max either skill unless your Summoner skill tree is for sub-classing. |
|
HP Restorate |
Recovers a portion of HP every 5 seconds after a certain threshold.Do not max this unless your Summoner skill tree is for sub-classing; on a sub tree, this skill works wonders! |
|
Pet Recovery |
Main class only.Recovers a small percentage of pet HP every 5 seconds.Between the must-take 3 SP and maxed 5 SP, there's only 1% difference. |
|
Total Attack Up / Mega UpAll Attack Up / High Up |
Grants 200 MEL-RNG-TEC/S-R-T-ATK if you spend all 15 points in it. |
|
Pet Photon Barrier |
At L5, gives 10% chance to negate damage. This can be a lifesaver for pets with lesser durability, like Torim, Aero, Synchro, Or Redran |
|
PP Up 1 / 2 |
Increases maximum PP.Dump the rest of your SP here. |
|
Total Defense Up / Mega UpAll Defense Up / High Up |
Grants 200 MEL-RNG-TEC/S-R-T-DEF and DEX by 100 if you spend all 15 points in it.Only take if you use Su as a sub class. |
|
Quick Recovery |
Reduces the time of bad status effect on character. Not really worth it. |
|
Unstoppable RecoveryMassive Mate |
Prevent flinching and reduces damage when using Mate items. Not worth it at all since you can create an Atomizer Lover Ring which grants you invulnerability instead. |
|
Reserve Recovery |
Increases the recovery speed of non-active pet. This can be handy, but unfortunately, it doesn't shorten pet's stunned duration. |
|
Pet Switch Strike |
Main Class only.Allows MEL/S-ATK or RNG/R-ATK to be used in damage formula instead of TEC/T-ATK.Only change the formula used to calculate pet damage; pet damage is always Tech.Does not affect Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) or any other damage other than one produced by pet. |
|
Advanced Photon BlastPB Advance |
Increases PB power.Does nothing if you have Ketos Proi. |

Dia Master (Dear Master) Exploit
Exploiting the mechanic of Dear Master, can grant you infinite HP. I personally think this gives Summoner unfair advantage in "high difficulty quest" (which enemy just do excessive damage), but to each their own. Dear Master, as noted, transfers the damage to pet and gives you invulnerability, essentially adding pet's HP to yours. This redirected damage can be mitigated:
- Triggering Maron/Melon's Fierce personality that recovers HP (by extension, also their Cute personality)
- Triggering Jinga's Fervent personality (by extension, also their Powerful personality)
This will allow you to counter and subdue aggressive bosses like Phaleg or Omega Masquerade easily, especially since healing to pet is rarely nerfed.
Pet Raising
Pet Raising
Your pet has a different mechanics that that of a normal weaponry. Here, pet raising will be discussed from the basic topics like its parameters, to the more advanced topics, like its candy box.
Pet's Properties
Pet has several important properties, from Rarity, Personality, Elemental Attribute, and Pet Plus.
A window displaying egg information.
Rarity and Rarity Upgrade
Pet Evolution
A pet has a rarity that determines their highest level. Rarity can be upgraded at the Pet Lab if you have a higher rarity egg of the same species (i.e. You can only increase rarity of a ★7 Viola with a ★8 Viola). Once a pet reaches L100, you can Limit Break them by asking Pietro for free.

Rarity upgrade also allows you to change pet's personality, provided the fodder egg has different personality and at least of the same rarity.
Wanda, Trim, and Sally can be rarity upgraded to Jinga, Aero, and Popple, respectively. Be warned that if you say, evolve Wanda to Jinga, you need another Jinga Egg to rarity upgrade it. There are no reason to pick Wanda over Jinga, Trim over Aero, or Sally over Popple. Jinga, Aero, and Popple are superior in every aspects, unless your Wanda, Torim, and Cery are ★14.
Rarity upgrade and pet evolution can only be done on Ariel's Item Lab! Don't feed that expensive high evolution egg to your main pet, it will only raise it's EXP!
Personality
Personality is similar to weapon potential. They have varied effect, but most prominent is increasing damage. Personality has 5 levels and is automatically raised as pet levels up (Pet L100 is where you can attain L5 Personality). Pets up to ★13 rarity have a preferred personality, as shown below; but this becomes irrelevant once pet reaches ★14 rarity, which gives it a third personality that combines both personality. Changing personality can be hard or impossible as it requires egg of at least the same rarity.

"Very/Total" (超 Super)" personality (e.g. Very Thoughtful) will have an additional effect of raising Rare Drop Rate by 5%. "Very" personality's effect is included on a pet's ★14 personality. Please note that "Very" personality is not worth the price. If you can get one for free, feel free use it (or sell it), else don't bother with it.
Ensure you have the personality you want! Changing personality requires rarity upgrade, which needs same or higher rarity egg!
Elemental Attribute
Pets starts with a 10 attribute value that is visible upon viewing the egg. Ideally, you will want the default attribute to be Light. You can change attribute by putting Lemonade in the Candy Box, but changing to Light Attribute is very costly. Attribute can be raised by putting Pancakes. Pets with ★12 rarity or below will have a maximum of 50 attribute, while a ★13 or above will have 60 attribute.
Attribute directly affects pet damage. Let's say you have a pet with 1000 Pwr (any power type) with 50 Light attribute. While in the information screen the pet has 1000 ATK, it effectively has:
1000 Pwr + 50/100 * 1000 Pwr = 1500 Pwr
If the pet attacks a target which is weak to Light element, its effective attack will be:
1000 Pwr + 50/100 * 1.2 * 1000 Pwr = 1600 Pwr
And thus, raising element is the best way to increase overall pet's damage.
Always hatch a Light-attribute egg, since almost all raid bosses are weak to Light!
Level / Egg Synthesis
Level up pet by using Egg Synthesis on Pet menu. L1 pet is only as frightening as a Rappy Doll room item. A pet can be fed (synthesized) with an EXP Egg or another pet egg. If you are a Summoner main, you will have a steady drop of EXP Eggs. The Pet Lab can exchange grinders for ★6 EXP egg or Photon Sphere for ★12 EXP Egg.
Use Synthesis Charge to boost the EXP gained from eggs! However, it will cost 10 SG each for the first 3 times, and also use high-rarity eggs only, like ★12 EXP Egg.
Pet Plus
A pet has extra HP, MEL-RNG-TEC/S-R-T ATK and DEX to be raised. This is called Pet Plus, as seen on the figure below.
A Pet Plus of a Rappy, not yet maximized.
Each pet type has a different plus value cap; any Wanda will have same the same cap, but a Jinga will have different cap than Wanda. Pet Plus can make or break pet: Rappy is quite weak without its all stat +250 Pet Plus cap. Plus value will usually be close-to-maxed, if not maxed, once they reach L130 by feeding random Pet eggs.
Feeding another pet egg to increase the Pet Plus.
Power Synthesis
If you want to quickly raise your Pet Plus value, you can use this method:
- Hatch a low rarity egg you don't use, lets call this fodder pet.
- Feed the fodder pet with another egg to increase it's pet plus value.
- Return the fodder pet back to egg.
- Feed the fodder egg to your main pet and gain much more pet plus with the cost of use 1 synthesis slot!
Gain a lot of pet plus!
Sweets Box (Candy Box)
Sweets Box is akin to putting affix to regular weapons or units. A pet always starts with a 8x8 Sweets Box that is filled with Gelatin Cube (Blue), Caramel Cube (Orange), and Paper Cube (Gray). Each pet type has a different box layout, for the exception of Wanda-Jinga, Trim-Aero, and Sally-Popple, Redran-Herbie, and Shinkuro-Vulcan
Below is an example of a fresh Wanda-Jinga box, note that it is filled with several cubes:
- Blue Gelatin Cubes will be removed automatically once a pet reaches level 50 (or so).
- Brown Caramel Cubes, require Caramel Crusher (8 Excubes) to remove.
- A pet will always start with 8 Caramel Cubes, requiring you to spend 64 Excubes per pet.
- Gray Paper Cube cannot be removed. Makes you wonder why since they are supposed to be paper.
Freshly hatched Wanda's Sweets Box
Sweets Types
A Sweets Box can hold a limited amount of candies. It is a good idea to compress candies first before putting it to Sweets Box!

Sweets Type |
Description |
|
Pancakes |
Pancakes are the most important sweets, as they increase the elemental value, thus giving you easy damage. You can only put 2 of them, requiring you to have 3-Layers and 2-Layer pancakes to maximize a ★13 pet's element. They can be compressed 3 times to a 2x2 size. You need a total of 160 Synthesizers to create a 2-Layer Pancake (8 Excubes) and 1050 Synthesizer to create a 3-Layer Pancake (53 Excubes). For newbies, start with 2 Double Stack/Layer Pancakes and destroy one of them when you have the resource to create the Triple Stack/Layer Pancake.Compressing pancakes require 6 Grinders and either 9869 Meseta (Single), 25194 Meseta (Double), and 42214 Meseta (Triple). |
|
Parfaits |
Parfait is the second-most important sweets on the box, and they usually boosts damage, but can be hard to obtain. You can only put 2 parfaits and both must have different name.A parfait can be compressed 4 times to a 2x2 size.Compressing a parfait costing a total of 12 Lambda Grinders and 636300 Meseta. |
|
Rolls |
Rolls are the third most important sweets, and they have a varied uses. You can only put 2 rolls and they can be compressed twice to a 2x2 size.Compressing rolls will cost 6 Grinders and 28459 Meseta for a ★10, 8 Grinders and 59347 Meseta for an ★11, and finally 10 Grinders and 82625 Meseta for a ★12. |
|
Cookies |
Cookies adds stat, and they are akin to affixes, meaning that their stat increase will not contribute to elemental multiplier. You can only put 3 cookies, and they can be compressed 3 times to a 1x2 size.Compressing cookies costs a total of 6 Grinders and 25205 Meseta. |
|
CanesアメCandy Sticks |
Canes have varying properties, but they usually increase stats without needing to be compressed. You can put 4 canes in a Sweets Box. |
|
Sandwiches |
Sandwiches raises one type of defense by 100, depending their name. You can put 5 sandwiches in a Sweets Box, but most often you can only put 1 to 3. |
|
CandyラムネSoda |
Candy changes the element of the pet. This requires 1 Attribute Changer and 100 Synthesizer. They can be compressed twice to a 1x1 size. While their compression price is negligible, the Attribute Changer from Player Shop can get expensive. |
|
Gummies |
Gummies commonly adds 10 HP and they are 1x1 each.Use them to fill the gap caused by other sweets. |
|
Crepes |
Crepes adds things like EXP gain rate, rare drop rate, and Meseta gain rate.At maximum compression, they are still a 2x2 candy and their minuscule boosts is not worth sacrificing that kind of space. |
Sweets Box Tools
As you fill your Sweets Box, you might notice that you can remove a few sweets to add more useful ones. This is where these tools come in handy. Two of them can be found at Ariel's Pet Good Shop, and the Tongs that returns sweets to your inventory, are only available from the SG Shop.

Summoner's Progression
Summoner Progression
Your main progress as a Summoner should be as follow:
- Have a Light-attributed Jinga fully raised, i.e. full sweets/candy box, and at L130
- Have a Light-attributed Melon fully raised
- Have a Light-attributed Synchro fully raised
- Have a Rykros Staff +30, easiest to obtain from trading 500 Conqueror Crest at Zieg's Conqueror Crest Exhcange
- You can accomplish this by trading 63 Sage Crest into 504 Conqueror Crest, also at Zieg's Sage Crest Exchange
- Have 3 ★13 unit with 150 TEC/T-ATK and 25 PP each (unit's base stat included!)
- In the example above, the base unit is a Schvelle which has 50ATK and 12 PP by default. The ability affix adds 120 TEC and 10 PP, making it has a total of 170 TEC and 22 PP. This is less than the ideal 25 PP, but it can still work.
- Have 200 PP and become SuPh, the best class combo available for Summoner.
- In normal circumstance, especially for beginners, you start with 100 PP.
- L90 Summoner can get 5 PP from PP Up skill.
- Ph sub gives additional 20 PP from PP High Up skill.
- This totals to 125 PP base, so you need 75 from equipment, which is why your 3 units ideally need to have 25 PP each to attain 200 PP total.
- There are other ways to gain PP, such as putting Spirita Cookie to your Pet's Candy Box
- You don't need 200 PP if you aren't using Ph sub.
Tips for Beginner ~ Don't make a Common Mistake!
If someone recommends you a MEL/S-ATK Mag for Summoner, most likely they are using old knowledge from 2017s! Use TEC/T-ATK Mag instead!
Did someone recommend you Marron as best pet? That's also an old knowledge from 2017! Marron have a limited use outside of some bosses!
Please level up your pet! Without a proper level, they don't do much damage and dies easily!
Parfaits are powerful but Pancakes are easier to obtain!
Intermediate Summoner
Hey, have you been familiar with pet raising and sweets box? If not, please read it on the basics!
Class Combination
Summoner Subclass
Summoner has 4 viable subclasses: the common Fighter and Phantom, and the more niche Braver and Bouncer:
- SuFi: Most common combination. Best combination if Ph is not yet available
- SuPh: The premier combo for everything. It is stronger than SuFi with great PP regeneration, but requires the character to have 200 PP
- SuBr: Great for beginners, especially players new to Summoner and new to PSO2
- SuBo: Has good PP regen and strong against breakable parts, but difficult to use.
All multipliers listed are not counting High Level Bonus, which is a must-take. The "Damage Rating" stated is based on critical builds, whose explanation can be found after this section.
Summoner-Fighter (SuFi)
Recommended for all skill levels. SuFi has the highest stance multiplier and less likely need to switch stance, but offers little compensation once PP runs out and has lowest critical rate (means your base damage will be lower). Despite this, SuFi remains well-rounded and is a good choice towards end-game, especially if Phantom is not available.

|
Crazy Heart & Crazy Beat |
10 |
This skill is not recommended as it's too situational to be useful and most of time, a competent Techter will restore your Status with their Super Treatment. If you're affected by at least one negative status, then Crazy Heart will increase PP Regen by 200% and Crazy Beat will add 200 S-ATK.Somehow this is used as a licence to be a jerkass for players who wanted to keep their boost on while on status effect toward players who want to heal them off their status effect.Play nice, don't be a jerkass! |
You can still use TEC/T-ATK Mag even if you're SuFi, and it's recommended to do so over MEL/S-ATK Mag!
Summoner-Phantom (SuPh)
The final destination of Summoner. SuPh has high multiplier, high PP regeneration, and no stances, making it easy to use. In every way, compared to other subs, Ph stands superior as an all rounder. However, it requires 200 PP to be effective, 2 level 75 classes to unlock Ph, and Ph weaponry to sustain its leveling since Ph cannot have a subclass.

Summoner-Braver (SuBr)
Recommended for beginners. SuBr has the easiest usage, but relatively lacks output. This is compensated by Attack Advance which, on several pets, provides a PA-powered normal attacks with 0 PP usage. This contributes to its beginner-friendly nature as newbies tend to use normal attacks a lot. SuBr is best when fighting bosses whose weak point is exposed for a long time to warrant Weak Stance activation, such as Dark Falz Elder, Cuento Dragon, Dark Falz Persona, Demoire Dominus, and Veiled Fordruss.

Summoner-Bouncer (SuBo)
SuBo has a superior PP regeneration mechanism. They are the only sub-class that allows Summonner to reach 100% critical without external help (means your base damage is all-time highest). While it does not have high multiplier compared to Fi, its PP regeneration is more than enough to make it up, even with only Elemental Stance; this means that you will need to get used to PA constantly. Unfortunately, using SuBo means you require extra palette slot to accommodate Fields, and you will be required to maintain your Shifta and Deband. SuBo is best when fighting bosses whose break point is exposed for a long time to warrant Break Stance activation, such as Dark/Omega Falz Luther, Profound/Unfathomable Darkness, Magatsu, Quent Dragon, and Dark Falz Persona.

- Su doesn't have JA, which means SuHu and SuEt will not work well:
- SuHu gains nothing from JA Bonus; Fury Stance only boost Striking and Ranged while all Pet attacks are considered Tech (regardless of Switch skills)
- SuEt cannot activate Flat Attack bonus because this skill only applies to missing JA on attacks that have JA. Pet attacks have no JA
- SuEt doesn't gain any critical rate from Etoile tree, making its base damage lower.
- SuEt with Tech Attack Count Bonus is incompatible with a lot of pets' combo which involve using a single attack repeatedly
- Pet attacks, while always do Tech damage, is not a Technic:
- Elemental Mastery (e.g. Fire Mastery, Light Mastery, etc.) skills are invalid due to only working for Technics
- Similarly, SuFo cannot activate any Tech Advance skills (Normal Tech Advance, Tech Charge Advance, Tech JA Advance)
Using SuFo and SuTe for casting attack Tech along with pet is a bad idea! You'll end up with weak tech and weak pet!
About Critical Hits
While Su does not have JA, this is offset by pets having 70% minimum damage, as opposed to other weapon's 90% when using a ★13. Adding as much critical as possible allows pet to reach higher average damage, without compensating any aspects (maybe that 10 PP from 2 Spirit Canes).
Stack as many critical rate up as you can, it's a shortcut to high damage!
By default, pet's minimum damage is roughly 70%, while Critical hits in PSO2 automatically put your damage to 100%. Thus, without any enhancements, your mean damage using a pet is:
(100% + 70%) / 2 = 85%
However, at any circumstances, you have at least 5% critical rate, which means 95% of time you deal average 85% damage, while the 5% of the time, you deal 100% of the damage.
95% * 85% + 5% * 100% = 85.75%
In other words, without any critical enhancements, averagely, you only do 85.75% damage.
Lets say you are using a Class Stance Critical (25%, assuming either Br or Bo sub) and a Critical Strike Ring Tech (20%), you will have a total of 50% Critical Rate (5% + 25% + 20%). Ignoring Critical Damage bonus from ring, your average damage will be:
50% * 85% + 50% * 100% = 92.5%
By boosting your critical rate to 50%, you gain 7.87% (relative to 85.75%) more damage.
What if you use all the critical option available without outside aid? Assuming Br or Bo sub, you already have 50% critical with ring (5% base + 25% stance + 20% ring). Add 14% from 2 Critical Candy Sticks and 20% from 2 Support Rolls. This will add up to 84% critical rate. Your average damage will be:
16% * 85% + 84% * 100% = 97.6%
You are almost about 14.82% (relative to 85.75%) more powerful than a non-critical build.
Example, a SuBr uses Deadly Parfait and maxed Critical Strike Tech ring: 84% critical rate and 103% * 110% = 113.3% damage during a critical hit (3% from Ring, 10% from Deadly Parfait). Their average damage will be:
16% * 85% + 84% * 113.3% = 108.77%
At more than 80% critical rate, the Deadly Parfait is more powerful than Super Complete Parfait (The damage rate with Super Complete Parfait alone will be 108.13%). And, with outside aid like Shifta Critical and Critical Field, pretty much 100% critical is guaranteed, bumping the overall damage to 113.3%

Increase damage and frequency of Mag's normal action. If you set a Mag's normal action to Megid, it can do a quite a dent to enemy, as well as poison the lesser mobs. While it can aid your damage as long as the mag has energy, it can backfire against Anga Phandaj as it will have increased chance to resist your harmonizer.Should you decide to use this, grinding is a must. |
Pet attacks are always Tech regardless of activated Switch skills, thus you need a Critical Strike Tech ring!
Technics
Several Technics are essential to have. You can obtain them as drops, buy from player shops, or trade them on Excube Shop at L17 for 20 Excubes each.

Description |
|
Resta |
Heals all allied units in an area.Pet will request a Resta sympathy if they have a low HP.Preferred to have Brilliant craft (increases healing). |
|
Anti |
Restores status effect of all allied units in an area.A full-charged Anti lasts about 5 seconds on the field, you can use this as a preemptive move if you see a status move is incoming, like Elder's ice meteor.Preferred to have Concentrated craft (reduces charge time). |
|
Shifta |
Raises base attack power of all allied units in an area.Pet will request Shifta sympathy during battle.Pet needs to have the Shifta buff for increased attack; having Shifta buff on the character is irrelevant to pet's damage.Preferred to have Multi craft (more ticks). |
|
Deband |
Raises base defense power of all allied units in an area.Deband is not as essential as Shifta, but is a key tech to have for Bo sub.Preferred to have Multi craft (more ticks). |
|
Zanverse |
Inflicts additional 20% Wind damage when the pet is within the Zanverse radius.Best combined with long-range pets like Popple.Zanversed pet will affect the DoT given to enemy, as long as the pet is on the Zanverse area.Preferred to have Concentrated craft (reduces charge time). |
|
Megiverse |
Restores HP equal to 25% of damages inflicted if the pet is within the Megiverse radius.Note that since pet does the damage, character will not benefit from the skill at all, unless Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) is active.Either craft of Megiverse is fine. |
|
Safoie Type-0 |
Must have Type-0 Craft (available at start).A movement PA that helps you travel faster. It also tracks enemy's height, and has a lot of hits to help you escape from Fhange (that red-prison thing which traps you in an E-Trial). |
|
Ilzonde |
An alternate movement PA if Safoie Type-0 is out of reach.Has a high PP cost, ditch this once you have Safoie-0. |
Pets
The other important thing beside raising your pet properly is how to use them properly. There are a number of pets for a Summoner, each with their own specific purpose.
Glossary
Please note the following glossary before reading the detailed description of each pets.
Terms |
Description |
DPS Rating |
Rating of Damage per second, calculated roughly by damage divided by frame, divided by average damage of Pet PAs. This is solely used to determine which pet attack is more powerful when used over and over. It does not mean that it is the most efficient attack. |
Recall PA |
A Photon Arts (PA) that returns pet to your side and stops it from using further attack. This will pause the effect of Near Auto Target ring. Unless noted, pet will perform the move first before returning. |
DoT |
Damage-over-time, inflicts small damage over a set amount of time. It is similar to Poison, but is not counted as a status effect, hence do not activate Chase Advance Plus. A DoT skill will sucessfully deliver damage if the first hit lands, even if the part is hidden or the pet got stunned. However, it will cancel if the affected part is destroyed, or pet is unsummoned. |
Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) |
The potential icon on the DPS colum shows the DPS rating when Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) is used. |
The DPS value is relative to another pet, use it only to compare one pet to another!

Trim & Aero (トリム・アエロ Torim & Aero)
Description |
|
A pet with high powered PAs, focusing on quality over quantity. They are best suited to pursuit agile enemies with their fast Stab and their double DoT attacks.Their main weakness is their lack of wide area attack, PP inefficiency, low defense, and weakest normal attacks (i.e. not worth for Spirited Parfait); morover, they are far too reliant on Shouted Spiral to do damage.★14 Trim is more durable with higher HP and DEF.★14 Aero has higher Pwr, upgraded Aero Spriral (wider attack area) and Aero Slash (stronger).Stunned Trim takes 60s to recover; Aero takes 30s.Trim and Aero are currently outclassed by their glass cannon peers like Synchro, and fellow avian, Rappy. |

Sally & Popple (サリィ・ポップル Cery & Popple)
Description |
|
A long-range support pet, best at taking down a large quantity of enemies. They are risky to use against bosses that moves too much because its main DPS attack tends to miss. However, their easy-to-use nature allows you to utilize Zanverse together with their attacks.Sally and Popple can jam: pressing a PA button at the same time when they lose target will cause them to skip the said PA, but will still cost PP!★14 Sally is more durable with higher HP and DEF.★14 Popple has higher ATK and upgraded Popple Plode (chargeable and stronger hit, but lower DPS).Stunned Sally takes 60s to recover; Popple takes 30s. |

Marron (マロン Maron)
Description |
|
A defensive pet with self-explosion ability. Marron is best used when your enemy is agressive and have a lot of multi-hit attacks, like Omega Masquerage.Once was popular pet before damage cap was implemented; with damage cap in place, Marron Strike's capped 1M damage does lower DPS that its required setup. Using Marron for Strike attack only will lower their DPS a lot; consider using the strike as a bonus damage and focus on using Curse and Break as primary DPS.Marron's size has 3 stages, which powers up their Strike: The 1st stage is default; Marron will always be on 1st stage if you summon them; the 2nd stage is reached after 3 hits, in which Marron becomes big; the 3rd stage is reached after 9 hits, in which Marron becomes even bigger with flames coming out of their body; you have 15 seconds to perform Marron strike before Marron explodes on your hand and reduce your HP to a fraction.Unlike Melon, Marron has limited use on regular EQs: its overreliance on Marron Strike 3 to do damage become it's main weakness; Marron's main combo (Curse-Break) is weaker than the standard of a Jinga. It's niche, however, is in solo "hard difficulty" quest which features multi-hit bosses, i.e. Phaleg, Omega Masquerade, and Shiva; In those quest, you can throw Marron Strike 3 in under 30s and swap to another Marron.Stunned Marron takes 60s to recover. |

An all-rounder pet, very friendly to newbies, although obtaining their eggs is not newbie friendly (Rare drop from ARKS Rappy).Rappy invokes the Magikarp Power: its stat before L120 are not impressive, and has 250 points to fill on each stat of Pet Plus; Level 100 and 120 Rappy has attack differences of almost 400 points. They notably have strongest normal attacks, albeit smaller hit box; this is both blessing and a curse since it is more accurate to hit a weak point, but easier to miss moving enemies. They are the only pet to have a healing PA.Rappy is the best pet to abuse Braver sub's Attack Advance: Stacking Attack Advance and Spirited Parfait turns Rappy's normal attack into a PA, essentially allowing you to win boss fights by just holding Normal Attack Button. |

Redran (レドラン)
Description |
|
A long-range pet that can tear multi-part enemies, such as Ragne and Vibras, quickly. On the reverse side, they also can tear down Redran quickly.Redran has both the highest ATK among all pets, and one of the lowest DEF, with about 120 HP less than Synchro and only 60 DEF better.Redran, can jam: pressing a PA button at the same time when they lose target will cause them to skip the said PA, but will still cost PP!Redran has minimal use on EQ outside seasonal, defense, and endless quests; especially because they tend to run out of PP quickly. In addition, Redran is hard-pressed to secure the number of kills it needed in UH fields, further hampering its usage. |
Personality |
Description |

Harmonizer (タクト Takt)
Takts
For most of the time, sticking to your regular harmonizer is fine, but higher rarity harmonizer has additional effects. Harmonizers are handy, for one, they don't benefit a +35 grind as +30 is fine. This applies to even Rykros Staff (it affects Rykros, but hardly significant).

Zieg TradeDeus ESC-AXHEQ Any Omega Boss |
Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) launches a 2000 power projectile attack or 2500 power for Redux (Plus) at every PA during Alter Ego that relies on TEC/T-ATK of the character. The faster the PA, the more extra damage you can do; it roughly adds ~20% to overall damage during Alter Ego.Rykros is still the strongest harmonizer available to attack single target, even when you consider Alter Ego only works 66% of time. Also automatically fulfill Sympathy after 5s (3s if Plus) on Alter Ego: Adds a Shifta tick on Shifta Sympathy and recovers 50% HP on Resta Sympathy. |
|
ローズスキュアRose Skewer |
EQ ChristmasCollection File |
The basic all-class harmonizer. This is essential to have as it also allows you to use pet when you are raising your subclass. |
|
闇征奏アジェルリードAyer Reed |
Zieg TradeUH Primordial Darkness |
Cycle of Fate grants 111% damage, -20% PP cost, and persistent 20 PP regen every 10s.It's PP recovery will take place anytime, even during charging Technics and using PAs.Marginally more powerful than Liberate, and a single purchase costs almost nothing. You don't ned to make it max 35; a +30 will do no different from +35.However, it's only best on Viola and Vulcan, or when you're mobbing with area attack like Jinga Shock. |

Phantasmal Song grants 103% damage when photon blast gauge is not full and 104% if it is full.Upon using a Photon Blast, this harmonizer will gain an extra effect based on Photon Blast while the harmonizer is equipped: Helix grants an additional 104% damage; Ajax grants +40% attack PP recovery; Cetus grants +30% natural PP recovery; Julius grants 12% damage resistance Ilios grants -15% PP cost.Switching to different harmonizer and back will retain the effect; the effect lasts until you return to campship.Supposedly, if you have multiple mag with different Photon Blasts, you can have all the effect at once if you keep switching mag and do different Photon Blasts.Nevertheless, even with just Cetus, this harmonizer can contribute well to PP regeneration, especially if you use a Redran set. |

Lightsong Guardian grants 111% damage, and the effect of Cycle of Fate: -20%PP Cut, and persistent 20PP regen every 10s.Upon doing 3 normal attacks, the initial 111% damage boost is retained, but theCycle of Fate effects are discarded in favor of extra 104% damage (total of 115.44% damage), damage taken -30%, and super armor. The new effect lasts 30s and has 30s cooldown.Taking account the amount of material required to make this Harmonizer and the fact that you cannot convert it to another weapon, it's completely disappointing as the prime pets for this Harmonizer benefits a lot more from it's predecessor, Ayer. |

Steadfast Solo grants 110% damage and Pet regenerates 10% HP every 10 seconds. However, if you get hit, the damage multiplier will be reduced by 1% and the pet-healing property is gone.Minimum multiplier is 106% and will regenerate at 0.4% per second, totaling at 10s to be maxed. When the multiplier is back at 110%, the pet-healing property will return.Damage transferred by Alter Ego counts and will reduce the multiplier.Since the harmonizer doesn't come with damage reduction, natural PP regeneration, or automatic PP regeneration like other Stil, this stick is a waste of effort; go make other Stil instead. |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What units / armors should I use?
If you just started the game and have no idea on affixing a unit:
- For current North America version, you can obtain Saiki unit set from L61+ Gigur Gunnegam (ギグル・グンネガム Giguru Gunnegamu) or Brissa unit set from L66+ Gwahl Jigmolde (グアル・ジグモルデ Guaru Jigumorude). Saiki has more PP where Brissa has a bit more ATK and HP. These two sets are the easiest to obtain.
- You can get 1 Weapons Barrier (サブ/ウェポンズバリア) from clearing Cofy (コフィー Koffie)'s quest Training Quest Certification (練習クエスト履修証明). You can utilize all 3 characters to obtain multiple copies of it. Until L75, this is the best unit you can obtain.
- You can get 3 Stella Walls (サブ/ステラウォール) from Lachesis the Title Counter when you have 2 L75 classes.
- You can get Ray units — Circu Ray, Circa Ray, Circ Ray — from Badge and Memory Shop. You need 10 Weapons Badge SP on Shop 1 for each of them.
Why not use MEL mag? Doesn't MEL Mag on Fi give 6.5% more damage with all the MEL passives?
In theory where a lot of variables dismissed, yes. However, PSO2's damage factors are actually:
- Stat
- Multipliers
- Attacks or skills used.
- PP circulation, includes max PP, natural PP regeneration, and attack PP regeneration.
- Combo or attack rotation.
- Survival abilities, such as dodge and damage mitigation.
So if you have great stat and multiplier, but lack PP circulation and combo is nothing, you'll have lower DPS.
PP, combo, and survival abilities all depend on the player, so I decided to test this MEL Fi vs TEC Fi myself with the following condition:
- 200 Dex Mag with Megid auto attack, Mag Excite Ring, full mag energy.
- Dex mag is used because lack of MEL mag.
- Units with total of 180 + 270 ATK.
- Tree Boost and Shifta EX drink is used.
- Jinga A with MEL-SPI Cookie (+120 MEL, +18PP).
- Jinga B with TEC-SPI Cookie (+120 TEC, +18PP).
- Player (Manaka) is a Fem Cast, naturally has higher MEL and lower TEC.
- Player is a L95/90 SuFi.
- Player has 284 PP.
- Player takes all MEL up skills on Fi tree, along with all PP/half/deadline slayers.
- Player uses Switch Strike when using Jinga A (MEL).
- Player doing 90s of attacking consisting of Jinga Pulsar and Break spam, repeated 4 times (i.e. sample size is 4).
- Alter Ego is used.
- Player attacks until PP runs out and let pet normal attacks until PP is full, during normal attack, pet's Shifta is reapplied.
- All Shifta sympathy requests are fulfilled.
- At 16s left of Alter Ego cooldown, if Jinga is doing normal attacks, Jinga Pulsar and Break spam will be used for last burst.
The result of average DPS are like this:
Condition |
DPS ± St. Dev |
Jinga A + Harmonizer (MEL) |
244K ± 4.8K |
Jinga A + Rykross (MEL) |
322K ± 2.8K |
Jinga B + Harmonizer (TEC) |
235K ± 5.3K |
Jinga B + Rykross (TEC) |
318K ± 6.2K |
- By comparing average, the MEL and TEC on a regular Harmonizer differs by ~3.8%
- According to MEDCALC, the significance level is P = 0.0353 (less than 0.05), indicating significant difference.
- On the other hand, the average of MEL and TEC on Rykross is ~1%
- MEDCALC gives the significance level at P = 0.3584 (more than 0.05), which indicating insignificant difference.
So thus, at same skill level, MEL is only 3.8% better. Further more, when Rykross comes, all MEL-based SuFi will be doing the same damage as a TEC-based SuFi. Considering MEL ability affixes are expensive, using TEC is more reasonable and you can save a lot of Meseta to grab those costumes and lobby actions!
What is the best Harmonizer?
This depends on the pet. If we're comparing only Jinga:
Harmonizer |
DPS |
Guren |
223K ± 3.4K |
Nemesis |
221K ± 3.5K |
Raven / Slave |
220K ± 1.9K |
Rykross Redux |
273K ± 5.7K |
Ayer |
249K ± 2.8K |
Rivalate/Liberate |
241K ± 3.2K |
Aqua Ripple |
226K ± 5.3K |
- Player (Manaka) is a Fem Cast
- Player is a L95/95 SuPh.
- Player has 240 PP.
- Mag is 200 Dex Mag with Megid auto attack, Mag Excite Ring, full mag energy.
- Units with total of 240 + 345 ATK.
- Tree Boost and Shifta EX drink is not used.
Conclusion:
- Jinga is significantly more powerful with a Rykross Redux.
- Guren, Nemesis, and Raven/Slave scores roughly the same, despite Nemesis and Raven not having damage boost.
- Ayer is second-strongest, followed by Rivalate/Liberate
What should I use against <Insert Boss Name>?
Wanda or Jinga is always your the first pet that you should use when you are testing new boss or content. They have no real weakness and is suitable for every possible scenario.
Wanda or Jinga?
This depends on your playstyle. Wanda has better defense and more efficient Slicer, while Jinga has overall better DPS.
Sally (Cery) or Popple?
Popple is overall better since it has Charged Popple Plode, a wide area attack; and its main DPS move, Popple Curse, only cost 5 PP.
Trim (Torim) or Aero?
Trim has slightly better defense, although it doesn't help much. Aero's Charged Shout Spiral 2 have wider area of attack and less PP cost. Since the bulk of Aero's DPS is from Shout Spiral (using 2 seconds Charged Shout Spiral is already better than Shout Slash), having it easier to hit is a big plus. In practice however, both has minimal use.
Marron (Maron) or Melon?
Neither are practical for mobbing, so let's assume it's for bossing. Marron is more useful if the boss is overly aggressive and have high attack, like Omega Masquerade, Episode 4 Phaleg, and the inhabitants of the solo XQ Phantom. Melon is more useful if the boss isn't aggressive, and is even more useful of both if you have both a ★14 Melon and a Rykros Staff. Conditions aside, Marron needs to take 9 hits to maximize its Strike PA and it will be incapacitated after. Melon needs only 2 hits to maximize its Strike PA, but if you hold the PA button after the throwing animation, you can catch Melon back, like a yo-yo. Both require you to use their Curse attack once every 10 seconds.
What's the viability of Normal Attack Rappy?
In advent of Super Spirited Parfait from Primordial Darkness / Last Boss, Rappy could just use it's accurate Normal Attack without using any PAs. The boost from both Super Spirited Parfaits and Spirited Parfait grants 210% Normal Attacks, this boosts it's Normal Attack score from base 46 to ~96.6. Add extra 111% from Ayer Harmonizer, and you'll get 107.2 score. Add extra 108% from Attack Advance Ring, you'll end with 115.8 score
On the other hand, Rykros Rappy Drop, scored at 95 during 60s Alter Ego and 73 during 30s Alter Ego cooldown, this amounts to the score of [60/90 * 95 + 30/90 * 73] = 87.6. If we apply both Super Deadly and Super Doki Doki, this becomes [87.6 + 1.16 * 1.14] = 115.84 score. Add extra 103% from Critical Strike Ring, you'll end with 119.3 score. However, this score is based on ideal condition where the Rappy has infinite PP.
Since the maximum difference is only [119.3 / 115.8] = 3%, it's safe to say that it's a worthwhile trade.
Should I have multiple elemental pets?
It's generally not recommended to, especially if you have limited resources.
I'm on PSO2 NA, what parfaits should I use?
If you're new, just use whatever parfait you can get from Pietro's COs, Titles, and Seasonal Urgents. Remember that it's better to focus on putting Pancakes first before parfait!
What is the best parfait combination?

What about this ____ Parfait?
- Some parfait have niche use, and isn't compliant to the more general use.
- Any parfait that requires you to have certain % of PP is not recommended since your PP fluctuates easily.
- Any parfait that requires pet to have low HP is not recommended since you'll want pets to have full HP.
- Reckless Parfait (がむしゃらパフェ Daredevil Parfait) is not recommended because it greatly reduces PP efficiency. It is better for you to PA more often than using normal attacks more often.
Do S Eggs have any difference than regular eggs, apart from color?
No. They are akin to having a shiny Pokemon.
Why recommend Spirita Cookies at all? Doesn't Shifta affect pet's total Pwr (ATK)?
- This is my personal choice. 15 PP would be more useful in long run, especially with Ph's Critical Stream than just mere ~2% damage.
- The Pwr increase Shifta formula for pet is (Shifta Power / 1000 + 1% * Number of Support Roll) * (Base Pwr * Drink * Tree + Unit Total Pwr + Pet Plus)
- Base Pwr is Character's Base Pwr + Mag + Status Up Skills + S-Ability Stat Up
- Pwr Cookies are not affected by Shifta (analogous to how weapon special ability affix isn't included in Shifta)
- Pet Pwr are not affected by Shifta
- Harmonizer/Takts are not affected by Shifta
This is according to Damage Calculation on PSO2 Capture Wiki and Pet Shifta on PSO2 Capture Wiki
What special ability affix do you put in your units?
It changes, surprisingly, yearly. Although 2019 and 2020 was a half-impulse (2019 was on the first appearance of Grace, and surprisingly cheap; 2020 was the first appearance of Grand Spirita, and it was also surprisingly cheap):
- 2017 affix on Qliphad: Tech III, Spirita III, Ares the Soul, Doom Break I, Elegant Tech
- 2018 affix on Evleada: Tech III, Stam III, Ares the Soul, Doom Break I, Grace Tech
- 2019 affix on Lightstream: Ares the Soul, Doom Break II, Persona Reverie, Arks Max, Grace Stamina
- 2020 affix on Orb-Liberate-Nova: S-Ability (S6:Wise Skill, S7:Increased Efficiency, S8:High Minded), Ares The Soul, Doom Break II, Persona Reverie, Fordruss Glare, Grand Spirita
The 2018 Affix has higher TEC/T-ATK now it's upgraded to DQ Units (and given to other character), but does not affect average damage much.
For more info, please look on the unit guide!
Why you seem to focus on PP rather than TEC /T-ATK?
- I like my PP to hit 300 for Maximum Critical Stream bonus :)
- 400 attack affix is a good spot to stop. You can go to 500 for extra 2% damage or 600 for 4% damage, but it's just few percent for a significantly higher budget.
- Your attack affix is only half-relevant to your output. There's also combos, PP management, frame saving, and your enemy's profile.
- Focusing on PP is cheaper and easier. This makes me able to move on to a new set of unit should the need (e.g. future proofing) and impulse (cheap Add Special Ability items) arises, rather than needlessly stick to my old units.
- All my excess meseta can go to sexy costumes and sexy lobby actions.
I disagree with your guide!
By all means, contact me on my discord. Your disagreement could be my oversight, and I like to keep updating my guide :)
How did you come up with the multiplier number?
The numbers are calculated by comparing total damage from a certain sub to a subless state when using pets.
