Focal ón bPríomhoide
Ba mhaith liom comhghairdeas ó chroí a dhéanamh le chuile dhuine a bhí páirteach sa togra iontach seo. Tréaslaím leis na múinteoirí a spreag an oiread sin dár scríbhneoirí óga le dul i mbun pinn. Tá breis is seasca dán sa chnuasach rí-shuimiúil seo, agus léiríonn sé seo an gaisce as cuimse atá déanta ag an Mháistreás Nic Con Ultaigh, eagarthóir an fhoilseacháin.

Tá moladh go hard na spéire tuillte ag na scoláirí go léir a scríobh dánta do Lá na Filíochta. Tuilleadh biseach oraibh! Deirtear go múineann gá seift agus níl amhras ar bith faoi ach go bhfuil scoláirí Choláiste Mhuire idir sheiftiúil agus chruthaitheach. Is léir ó na saothair sa bhailiúchán seo go bhfuil spiorad speisialta Choláiste Mhuire beo beathach. Ná déanaimis dearmad, le linn na saolta neamhchoitianta, dúshlánacha seo ach go háirithe, ní neart go cur le chéile.

Heartiest congratulations to everyone involved in this wonderful project. I commend the teachers who succeeded in inspiring so many students to take up the pen. There are more than 60 poems in this fascinating anthology and this illustrates the height of the feat which has been achieved by its editor, an Mháistreás Nic Con Ultaigh.

All the students who wrote poems for Lá na Filíochta are worthy of the highest praise. Very well done to one and all! It is said that necessity is the mother of invention and there is no doubting that Coláiste Mhuire's students are both inventive and creative. It is evident from all the works in this collection that the special Coláiste Mhuire spirit prevails. Let us not forget, especially during these unusual and challenging times, we can only realise our true strength by working together.

Réamhrá
Ar Lá na Filíochta, déanaimid ceiliúradh ar an gcumhacht a bhaineann le focail. Tá siad an-tábhachtach sna laethanta dúshlánacha seo ach go háirithe.

Coinnigh an misneach! Mar a luann cuid mhór de na dánta táimid uilig le chéile. Dhá fhad an oíche, tagann an lá.

Réamhrá
On Poetry Day, we celebrate the power of words. Words are especially important right now in these fraught times. They give shape to our experience and help shift perspectives. The students’ words in this poetry collection give shape to the difficulty of this challenging time, with notes of hope, despair and humour. Sincere thanks to the students who contributed, and the English and Irish teachers who spread the word, collected poems and edited them.

Hold fast. As many of you mentioned in your poems, we’re all in this together. This too shall pass.

N. Nic Con Ultaigh
